People's visa process going fast, mine isn't - something I'm missing?

When I started out on this journey in April, I followed several other timelines that were similar to mine, where the spouse is coming from Canada and they sent in their I-130 around the same time as me. Since then, several have already gotten their NOA-2's, or even interviews scheduled/next fees paid. I got my NOA-1 on May 2nd, so wasn't expecting anything until around September, but seeing others moving forward so fast has me a little discouraged.

Is there something I'm missing, or did these people just get expedited visas for some reason? Just want to make sure there's nothing else I could be doing to speed the process along.

How fast a petition gets approved really depends mostly on what service center has your case... some review and approve cases faster than others. Unfortunately there's not much you can do at this point, except to wait. Just hand in there, and I'm sure you'll get approved soon

Could be just a case of good luck vs bad luck. I feel your frustration though. Our case was stuck at NVC for a little over eight months, while post people floated by in three months. In the end, we contacted our Senator to get our case moving. You can't do that until your case is outside usual proceeding times though.

Maybe Canadians have a faster process time but normally for the CR/IR-1, USCIS takes five to six months to process the petition. Hang in there and don't loose hope. One day, this'll all be over and you'll be together.

I wouldn't worry. I've just looked at all the IR-1/CR-1 Canada filers from April and only one has got to interview stage already:

Looking at their post history they requested consular filing on the basis of a short-notice relocation of the USC and it would appear, from the timeline, that this was granted. This is an exceptional case.

One other April filer has received their NOA2 but if you read their post history too you will notice that they were mistakenly put on the Philippines pile as the beneficiary was born in the Philippines (but has lived most of his life in Canada) and they were assigned a Manila case number by the NVC in error and have lost a lot of time in getting that issue fixed. It's probably cost them more time than they ever gained.

All other April filers from Canada are still waiting.

Have faith, your NOA2 will happen. But be warned, it doesn't really get any better after NOA2, it's all a waiting game (just look at my two tickers in my signature -.- )

I'm currently in the wait between NVC received and case number being assigned. It's been 14 days and already I've had enough of the waiting. But I survived 5 months and 13 days waiting for Nebraska. Can't understand why this wait is so bad.

You need the patience of a saint to get through this.

Patience was something I definitely learned during the I-130. When my husband sent the petition, lots of weird things were going on with I-130 petitions. Some people were approved in a month and others waited over a year. Local offices were doing the adjudication and using old manuals. Timelines varied so much that my approximate approval on VJ changed almost daily! My husband sat me down, and said, look they said to give them six months. I've worked for the government my entire adult life and it's always hurry up and wait. If something doesnt happen in 6 months, I will make sure something DOES happen.

He had such conviction that I just said okay and calmed down.

There are countries that process faster even though the need to do so has passed. It's not fair but you know the old saying... lol.

If you dont hear anything by November, then it's time for service requests and talking to representatives.
