@Beth & Achraf: Thanks! He went to a military office here in his city. We were told by a military officer that he needs permission, yes, and it can only be obtained in Cairo. Costs between 320-350 LE and takes 2 or 3 days to receive it. Very price.

@Ahned & Amy: And you're living in Egypt? Why didn't you request an expedite? I did. I filed the petition in October and requested expedite in December because I was coming to live with my husband end of January. I requested it on grounds of humanitarian reasons and my safety, too, given what's happening in this area of the world. It was granted in like 4 days. A little more than two months and the petition was approved. I think now you're close to it being approved.

We received his passport with visa yesterday! It took five days from the issued date until we received it. Going home next Wednesday or Thursday! ??

Praying your petition is approved ASAP!

@Beth: not sure what you are talking about... Exit stamp as in the kind of stamp everyone receives when leaving any country? This is not an exit stamp. It is a document that gives permission to leave the country. It is good for one month from date of issue. Every new trip out of the country requires a new one until the soldier has passed the nine year period that he's in the "reserves". First time costs 350 LE, every other time 35 LE. Takes roughly three days to receive, but we were lucky. The officer in Nasr City gave it to him the same day.

Booked tickets last night. Leaving 8/17.

This is for Egypt, not Morocco...

Yes I'm living in Egypt, 7 years now. I didn't even know that I could expedite. Well that stinks, but I suppose that I can't really do anything about it now. Thank you dear for your prayers.

I am so happy for you!!!! I hope for you and your husband and to have a happy life together in the US. :*

Just thinking its strange , they have to pay for a document from the Egyptian military to leave their country. But that's the way....... Wonder if they have to pay a fine if they come back at a much later date to visit there?

Maybe why so many Egyptian men go back with US citizen to visit there .

At least he has the stamp, and will be on his way.

I don't mean to be rude but I don't want anyone confused who is in Egypt and needing to complete this for themselves.

1) It is NOT a stamp - he does NOT have any stamp right now as we have not left. I said it is a document. It is an entire piece of paper that the military laminated for him to show at the airport when leaving. Perhaps once he shows it, then they will give the normal exit stamp that ANYONE leaving a country receives in their passport.

2) After finishing their time in the army, they are in "reserves" for 9 years. THAT is why they need permission to leave. Why they charge, who knows. Don't really care as long as he can leave, to be quite frank.

3) Why would they have to pay a fine when given permission to leave? That's just plain silly.

Firstly, No you were not rude... so please no worries.

I'm confused then from what I was told. Will explain when I have a bit more time to write this...... but for now.......

a friend of mine , her husband was issue a CR1 visa, but having issues getting his stamp to leave from Military.... breaking my heart for her on this.

Either way, I'm very happy your journey is going well, and soon you and him will begin a new journey here ♥♥
