I used to love shopping at K-Mart back home, but they closed them about 7 years ago.

I have never been in a target store

KMart sucks BIG time. They are, or should be, on the way OUT!

Yeah I don't see how K-Mart stays open. I very rarely go there. Thing that would piss my off about K-Mart is that they would have something on sale and they wouldn't have it. Then you would have to get a rain check and keep calling to see if it came in.

All the Kmarts around here are rebranding themselves as "Sears Essentials".

walmart is walking distance away so i go there most often. but its usually for quick things like a jug of milk or detergent. its isn't really dirty, but it can be disorganized and alot of price labels are missing so you have to run to the scan areas to find out what the heck the prices are, which is a pain in the ###.

we buy food at aldi or superfresh since neither the walmart nor the target around here have full food markets in them.

target is a much nicer store, more spacious and better organized. but since we'd have to pass walmart to get there, it doesn't serve much purpose, unless i am getting something like home decor (their bathroom sets are very nice).

kmart is a slum around here. ugh. i don't set foot in that place anymore. ew.

We do all our groceryshopping at the comissary - but are forced to shop at walmart if we need anything on the weekdays because I am not home from work in time to go to the comissary - they close at 6pm. I HATE walmart. Their veggies have no flavour, and everytime I go there I end up in a bad mood. And ther really doesn't seem to be any small, independent grocers in my bumblef*ck town. I would love to have a farmer's market or fruit market, or even a butcher. Sigh... no, only walmart. Blech - we have promised never again to shop there after we move back to Boston!

Yeah, for the canned stuff they have really good prices :) And toiletries too. And DVD's and photofinishing... and on and on. I just hate that it's our only option out here, not really any local merchants left to support anymore :(

we buy this Cambells Select soup bowls that you just throw in the microwave (I put them in hubby's lunch for work sometimes) ... They are about half the price at Walmart compared to our regular grocery store :o

that is to bad that you don't have much selection.....

I think it all depends on where you are.

Where we live, Target is the newest department store and it's just beautiful. I try not to buy clothes in department stores, but if I have to, I think Target's are so much better (looking, I am not speaking of their quality). And house decor items are great there with very affordable prices.

But I have nothing against Wal-marts we have here either.

K-mart in our town sucks big time. I know second hand stores that look way better.

I guess a lot depends on management.
