Must be a regional thing. Here in the Boston area, it seems Walmarts are super crowded, and super disorganized. While Target always seems to be less crowded, and more clean.

I'm willing to pay a few bucks more per trip for a "more pleasant shopping experience."

Makes me wonder why I do my grocery shopping at Market Basket.....

I think you are dead-on..............................must be a regional thing. The Wamart's I have been too are really messy, Target is in my opinion, a much better shopping experience.

In the Baltimore City and surrounding Maryland Counties all the Wal-Marts I have been in are busy no matter when you go into one. Not sure what you mean by disorganized, other than they normally have pallets of stock in the aisles waiting to be put on the shelves. Since, most stay open to midnight and with the volume of merchandise they move it only stands to reason that things like stocking shelves may need to be done while the store is open.

You never see stuff in the aisles at Target, but their stores close earlier and I don't think they do anywhere near the business that Wal-Mart does.

Target all the way. Walmart is dirty and just way too huge and doesn't have the same high quality selection as Target. I do go to Walmart for somethings since it has a few things Target doesn't have but I would shop Target over Walmart any day. When I go into Walmart I feel stressed and annoyed and in Target my shopping experience is actually pleasurable. Also, anytime I go to Walmart the people in the parking lot are IDIOTS (I once had someone in front of me reverse and almost hit my car to take a spot I was about to pull up into that they had passed) and there is never a decent spot. Seems like whenever I go to Target there is always a good spot and even if there isn't the walk isn't bad because I like going to Target so much! :)

I can't see why people say the items at Wal-Mart aren't the same quality as Target. Toothpaste is toothpaste, paper towels are paper towels no matter where you buy them. I can't recall anything I bought at Wal-Mart ever falling apart on me and I'm sure if it did they would exchange it or refund my money without any problem. Nothing against Target, because I go there when they might have something on sale that I need, but you get more bang for the buck at Wal-Mart. The stores are crowded for a reason.

I am still puzzled by the statement that Walmart is dirty :unsure: I have never encountered a dirty Walmart and I have been to a few different ones

Now back in Canada when we still had a Kmart, that store was dirty and unorganized :P

OK, so picture Kmart in Canada.... That's just like the Walmarts near me!

I'm referring mostly to food items. Target has a really nice selection of certain foods I can't find in Walmart.

I also have not really encountered a dirty walmart. Chaotic at times? yes...but dirty? It must matter where someone lives, because our super walmarts are nice inside. We do most of our grocery shopping there. We don't meat since hubby is a vegetarian so I can't compare meat, etc to other places. But I do hate trying to do shopping on the weekend when it's crowded...I'd rather go at like 9pm to do grocery shopping!

Me either. I have never walked around Wal-Mart with a with glove checking for dirt, but the stores look reasonably clean and the bathrooms (were you can really tell how clean a place is) are always clean.

one of the dirtiest bathrooms I have seen around here was at Babies R Us  (don't get any ideas, I was shopping for a baby shower gift :P ) it was so weird because the rest of the store was nice and clean and neat

Only 3 people out of 65 votes don't shop at Walmart or Target :o

Definitely target.

As others have pointed out, they have a great fresh foods section(not just produce, but meats/ deli as well) their home furnishing stuff has a lot more style to it, and it's generally a much more pleasant shopping experience.

I've shopped at Wal-mart, and still do on occasion, but only if it's convenient, and normally when I walk out of the store, I breathe a sigh of releief. They are too crowded, too unorganized, and have this general "ugh" feeling to them.

OK being an EX Walmart employee lol, I actually enjoyed working there. (It was only 5 mins away from where we live).

We shop there all the time, the "Dry Grocery" is exactly the same quality as anywhere else and for much less (We have also shopped at other places so I know the difference) But as for Meats and Produce I do prefer to buy it somewhere else if I have the time and the money.

Our Store here is clean although its only 2 years old, very spacious and wide aisled.

Being from the UK there was many "Old superstores" that were filthy in appearance, things grow old and haggered lol.

This is just my opinion, I have always liked shopping at Walmart, way before I even worked there, I can spend hours looking round their Home Furnishings lol. (But prefer the Malls for clothes shopping).
