Hi .. I'm currently expecting my US embassy appointment on the 14th of August in Cairo for a CR1 visa .. I've known my wife for 8 years since start of college and we've been married for 1 year now (we got engaged a year before that) .. my case was very smooth during processing and my I-130 was approved in 1 months and my case at NVC was approved in around 2.5 months .. I also hold a valid B1/B2 visa that I got issued last year and used it to visit the US last year .. I was on admin processing for 2 weeks when issuing the B1/B2 visa last year .. is there a chance that I get into admin processing again on my interview day ? I also hold a job offer from a top tech giant in San Francisco (I am a software engineer) worth a lot of money and me and my wife intend to re-establish her domicile in the US as soon as we can .. we are looking forward .. I am worried of delays due to Admin Processing .. is it likely ? Thanks

Everyone goes thorough administrative processing, no exceptions. How long it will actually take is not something you can predict. Egypt is often considered a high fraud country, so any final checks before the visa is issued might take a little longer. It doesn't have anything to do with your B1/2 visa though. It'll just get cancelled when your immigrant visa is issued.

All you can do after the interview is wait and hope for the best. There is no way to expedite this process either.

Good luck.

But don't they tell you at the interview whether you are approved or not ? If you are approved, admin processing takes a day or two unless a red flag pops up out of somewhere .. if your admin processing will take time they tell you that you are on admin processing explicitly and that it will take a while. That's what happened with my B1/B2 application a year ago but I received clearance from AP in 2 weeks. my AP was for security checks. My question is if it is likely that I get into security AP again this time even if I have clearance for my B1/B2 visa.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.

Yes it is quite likely that you will go to Admin Processing for security check, as a Egyptian male.

It is a definite possibility you will find yourself in true AP (there is a short AP everyone enters when their visa is being issued), but it is not a given you will find yourself in AP. There is not really any way anyone can predict the outcome of your interview. Yes they typically tell you if you are approved or require further processing at the conclusion of the interview, but they do not always indicate, and sometimes give vague answers. Also, it has happened on rare occasion where someone is told they are approved only to find themselves in lengthily AP. The best thing you can do is come to your interview well prepared, have duplicates of everything even extra passport pictures and stay as calm as possible. Make sure you have read all the recent embassy reviews for your country, make sure you have practiced all the likely questions, and bring plenty of evidence. Best of luck.

I hope your wife has her reestablish domicile evidence ready for your interview. That will be needed before they grant you a Visa. And yes expect AP for Cairo that's almost mandatory for all males. Could last days or weeks or months.
