hi everyone,

on the instruction letter that the embassy sent me, it says after i've acquired the items they have listed.

I should send my passport, but don't i need my passport for my interview?

How will security allow me in the embassy with my passport?

Am i supposed to take a photocopy? i highly doubt it...

thank you

Nobody sends their passport or any other document to London BEFORE the interview. Post a copy or type the exact words of what you are reading. Your only letter would typically come from NVC (not embassy) saying when to attend the spouse visa interview. If you are not processing at NVC, then choose IR1/CR1 (DCF) for your visa type and post in the DCF forum. Make a timeline. It helps those of us who can't read minds.:P

YES.

i had an interview 3 years ago after the i-130 was approved, but was denied the visa and was asked

to file for waivers (i-601 & i-212). The waivers were approved in 2014, in 3 1/2 months with no RFE.

The instruction letter was sent 2 years later

but in the link i was given in the instruction letter

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/applying-for-an-immigrant-visa-instructions/

step 1: says you should not submit any documents to the NVC.

and step 2: says Do not send any documents to the Immigrant Visa Unit.

So why is the embassy telling me i should send my passport.

And if they just want photocopies, don't they have them from my first interview?

This is confusing

Do you know for sure that you require another interview? Your letter from the embassy is typical of the procedure when someone has interviewed already but is lacking something simple like financial sponsorship or a proper birth certificate. The IV Unit does not keep the passport at the interview unless they have all they need to approve. Once the needed info is provided, then the applicant makes arrangements for the embassy's designated courier service to collect the passport from the applicant's home and deliver it to the Immigrant Visa Unit. The visa will be issued and the passport delivered back to the applicant.

I suggest that you contact the IMMIGRANT Visa Unit in London and clarify if you will interview again or if they can proceed with their decision once you have submitted the three items they listed. Also explain your case better (with dates) at the onset than you did in this thread.

i definitely have to to another interview, because i made an inquiry with the embassy last week.

They responded by saying You are required to submit the all supporting documents to the Embassy in person on the day of your visa interview.

We recommend that you submit an up to date and original Form I-864 on the day of your interview. See https://www.uscis.gov/forms/tips-filing-form-i-864-affidavit-support-under-section-213a-ina for information on how to file the form.

Then do what the embassy personally responded to YOU and ignore some generic boiler plate letter that doesn't fit your specific three year waiver-required situation. Take the passport and documents to your interview.

No, they don't keep your packet

you need to send copy of the passport

take the real passport to the interview as, if you are approved, they will keep it and stamp the visa and prepare your packet for POE
