Hey,

did anyone ever compare the total cost of going the K-3 route versus 2-year greencard?

Ok, $190 for I-130 vs $140 for I129F

Then is there a difference in payment to the embassy? I would assume, medical exam fees would be the same...

Then K-3 needs Adjustment of Status while 2-year GC needs Removal of Conditions...

Anyone who is at the end of the journey, please enlighten us, beginners!!!

Rika,

You appear to be confused about something - a K3 visa followed by adjustment of status results in LPR status (a green card). Often, but not necessarily, conditional LPR status (a 2-year green card). There is no "versus" here.

There are other permutations of the process for an alien spouse to become an LPR. With which of those do you wish to make a comparison?

Monomoke28,

Depends on the age of the marriage at the time the AOS is approved.

the cost is the same really. because with CR1 - you have to Remove condtions

and K-3 you have to AOS. The better option is really the IR1 because you dont have to remove condtions or AOS but you have to wait 2 years.

I have a question. When the AOS is approved and the beneficiary receives the green card, do they still have to remove conditions 2 years later?

yeah.. unless your wedding anniversary has laps 2 years then you would not have to remove condtions.
