OP stated in her second post "mom is catholic". I know how Muslim divorce works. I asked OP if maybe OP's dad was/is Muslim. This was not answered. They got married in a Catholic ceremony, though.

Also, OP stated "I guess she just want to make it quicker" which makes it sound like they are trying to circumvent the law. (No divorce, annulment takes years, only exception is sharia law divorce, so they figured maybe this will work.)

This is how it sounds to me, but I agree that more context is needed. For example it's unclear what kind of sharia law court would even rule on this divorce if both parties were Catholic. Sharia (family) law by definition applies to Muslims only.

Doesn't make a difference if she is or was Catholic. They could have converted. Or they are trying to "skirt" the law. Or whatever and who knows. It's not my business to know and therefore I am moving on.

Well, if they are trying to "skirt the law", that's not OK. If that's what they are trying to do, they need to stop and obtain a legal annulment.

Greenbaum is correct about the sharia law and divorce, I was wrong.

I still think in this case they are not legally divorced though, considering no CENOMAR would be obtained; likely the (ex) husband tried to pull a fast one,.

If she converted to Islam then she is Muslim and she should register the sharia law divorce the way Greenbaum described in an earlier post.

If she is still Catholic and only "converted" in order to get the sharia law divorce, she should go to court and obtain a legal annulment.

There remains no significance that she is identified as Catholic on her BC & MC. Those will not change. The MC, if properly endorsed will show that she is now divorced. This probably will not be addressed at the interview. It's not something that is a red flag to either country's CO.

I can't say what the outcome will be as I'm not fully well versed about her case or what will take place at her interview. She is in a grey area. Could go either way. Its up to the CO. If they deem it a fraud she will get declined and be banned from applying again for either a set period of time or permanent ban. She should have strong evidence that her converting was not a recent activity and it was well documented. She will need to have confidence in her religious beliefs during the interview. Yes, I agree with Greenbaum. Strangely, the case may depend on if the conversion was sincere or only a means to an end and never taken seriously.
