Is divorce certificate needed if applying after 5yrs of residency?

Hello folks,

I am sure that this issue might have been discussed on this forum already but I wasn't able to find answers to these questions:

I am applying for citizenship after 5 years of residency in the USA. I obtained my Permanent Resident card through my husband but we divorced a year ago.

Do I have to submit a divorce certificate along with other docs?

Do I have to submit all tax returns going back 5 years (including the ones we filed jointly while being married) or only the recent ones?

Are there additional docs I need to submit at all?

Many thanks!

Hello Aprelmai,

I just sent mine under the 5 years law and divorce if you read the checklist all you need is the

n400 form

2 pictures

$680 check

copy of green card

and divorce copy.

You can apply 90 days as well as long as you didn't go out the country more than 6 months.

Good luck!
