So what next, "READY"

Hi there,

So the NVC status is "READY," what next.

He is going to the Mumbai Embassy I think I should:

- have my fiancé fill the DS 160 form

-then schedule his appointment

-schedule a medical appointment

-he will bring the DS 160 confirmation page (with a bar code?)

-what else will he need for the medical appointment

-Verify all documents are ready to go,

-I134

-copy of original petition

-more evidence of relationship

-police certification

-birth certificate original

-Does he need the original of my divorce decree? it was sent in with the original application (a copy) however I thought I read somewhere that he will need my sealed copy in case they want it?

(He was never married)

-Does he need to pay the fee before the scheduling?

Am I missing anything in the process??? What will the email from the Mumbai Embassy say, will he need to print anything from that email?

Thank you for the help, I am a little confused because the flow chart I think is out dated here and asking for other forms and in general I have read so much that it seems like it is conflicting information at times.

Hi Yellaall-

no not yet, he is going to do the DS 160 and I believe you need the confirmation # and you have to print out a hard copy to bring to the interview. Once you complete the DS 160 I understand that you can book the interview with that confirmation #.

For the medical you need your appointment letter. That will be available after you fill the form and make the payment at ustraveldocs

This is how i have understood it to be

DS - 160 -> send it in -> independent

Schedule Medical

Fill Form on US Travel Docs -> you will be given a receipt

Pay the fees using the options listed and you will be given another id

Use that id back on the US Travel Docs and now you can schedule your interview.

Show up to your medical with the required docs and along with the interview letter

etc etc

Ignore what I said. When i logged on to ustraveldocs site, it popped up saying dont schedule an interview till you get a letter from the consulate which is very confusing since the Packet 4 is on the site. I think ill have to call the consulate and figure it out

That is the problem, there is conflicting information I understand that we will be notified by email is that correct for Packet #3 and #4. Have you received any correspondence, I see you are right around the same processing time as us. Have you heard how long the wait is for an interview in Mumbai? That is some thing that I have not been able to find.

I think that we will be safe to obtain his PCC and complete the DS 160. What have you completed?

super confusing! Filled out the Ds 160, paid the fee (the receipt number now shows up on the US Travel Docs profile), but I cant see any appointments available..... whereas before i could see some appoitnments for end of august.

Maybe we got ahead of ourselves, but its been "ready" for a few days and we have received no correspondence from them. Let us know what you hear if you call the consulate - i will try the embassy as well.

What I understand so far after speaking to a member from this board :-

1) No Packet 3 anymore

2) Packet 4 will be mailed to your fiance

3) Packet 4 that will be mailed is the same as the one listed on the American consulates website

That person scheduled their interview after receiving something in the mail from the consulate ( this already differs from what VJ says that they dont mail anymore)

As of now I have asked my fiance to only get her PCC & submit the DS-160 file. I will contact the embassy and also confirm.

When I went to the ustraveldocs site a pop up came that states specifically that K visa applicants should not apply for a date till they hear from the embassy, so I held back

I called the consulate and was told to email them with some information and theyll get back to me in 24 hrs.

Okay keep us posted.....

BTW.....I saw that the next available appointment is Friday August 12, 2016 so it seems like there is not really too long of a wait once all the paper work is done on our end!

No, It just was showing me the next date available. I wasn't making the appointment.

hi team,

I called the embassy & emailed and got the packet 4 via email. I still cant see appointments available, when I called they said they release them every 2-3 hours, and to keep checking until something opens up.... now i have alarms set to check in 2 hr intervals....

Did you receive Packet 4 because you emailed them? Hang in there for appointments
