Paying US taxes if applicable, having spouse\kids in the US, active financial transactions such as banking and credit, and maintaining a US residence.

Sounds like you have stronger ties to India at the moment than to the US.

The short answer to your question is NO. I don't think you are eligible for returning resident visa. You are eligible to get that visa only if you live out of US beyond the permit date because the situation was not in your control. MBBS study in India was your choice and the CO will have hard time believing you that in last 4 years, your study didn't allow you to travel to US even for a short time to be able to get another reentry permit. While what you have achieved in your study in India seems to be gr8, the CO doesn't care about that. You said you can't sacrifice your study for GC, the CO will say, "well you sacrificed your GC for study then".

You said your dad has a GC, that would be the fastest route for you to get the GC again, with around 2 years time frame.

You can apply for a SB1.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
