hi people

i got my greencard in 2009,following which i gave an initial entry to united states in october 2009 and returned back after a week as i had my school going on here(12th),after completion of my 12th std,i returned back to USA after 9 months and had applied for a reentry permit that which was valid for upto 2012,i came back to India to join MBBS course as i had obtained a free seat here and i never returned back to USA .But cuz of my bad luck and mental tensions i could not clear my first year exam on time and so the course got extended for an year.and now i have cleared all my phases in MBBS in first class.and currently in my internship which i am going to finish by june of 2017.

is there any possibility that the US consulate considers my returning resident petition?

#I returned to India for the sake of my medical education and i got a free seat and i am good at studies except in my mbbs first year and a topper in pathology and pharmacology (university)

#I have a clear intention to return back to united states and so is the reason that i got a reentry permit,But i could not go back as i was busy in preparing for exams in 2012

#i am maintaining family ties with united states-brother is a greencard holder and my sister is an US citizen

So you have not been able to make it back in 6 years? Do you not get any vacation?

Filing taxes seems a big thing.

**** Moving from K1 fiance visa to Travelling During US immigration forum ******

It's been 7 years since you got your greencard, and you never used it for it's intended purpose- living in the USA. Additionally, you stopped getting re-entry permits 4 years ago. Your greencard is abandoned.

How did you get a greencard originally? Perhaps you have family that can petition you (again)?

i can't sacrifice my studies for the sake of green card.,i got an admission in a medical school here on a merit basis and that's a very competitive exam,i have all government issued certificates to show what i had done in India all these days.and i am a registered doctor here.i have even started preparing for USMLE

My dad got the green card through his brother and so through my dad even i got a green card simultaneously

as of now i am just trying to check whether there's a possibility to retain the green card.,if i got it then that's fine or else i'll go for an alternative

I have my brother and sister who can petition me again, but that takes lot of time

ofcourse there are excellent schools,.But i am not eligible to study at that age in USA and i was not trained for M-CAT.Getting an admission in a medical school is not that easy.no worries if i am not eligible for a returning resident.I can crack USMLE ,and i have a known family members working in many reputed hospitals across USA and they can sponsor me a green card through their hospitals.as of now i am just trying to make use of the existing opportunity in the form of returning resident visa

A medical degree in India may or may not do anything for you in America. You may be allowed to take some tests to show you can practice here, or they may say its worthless. Since you have your degree in India, perhaps it's best to stay there?

There have been a few threads about immigrating as a Doctor, not easy.

Paying US taxes if applicable, having spouse\kids in the US, active financial transactions such as banking and credit, and maintaining a US residence.

Sounds like you have stronger ties to India at the moment than to the US.
