So I really need to get a passport soon. We got our MNL case number two months ago. And our petition will expire on Oct. 8. The problem is I don't have a passport yet because I had problems with my birth certificate. Anyhow, I go online and the closest appointment I can get here in my city is September 29. I do not have the time to wait for that so I checked other cities. And Cebu has an open appointment on August 10. But, that is too far away from me. It'll be very expensive and I do not know Cebu. Is there any other way I can get around this problem?

Your petition is good for one year. They put an expiration date on it so that you keep your process moving along and they don't get a back up. USEM will extend another 4 months without you doing anything. Relax, you have time. It's just going to be longer wait because of the passport.

I really, really hope so. It's just that when I asked about that before: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/604505-can-i-appoint-the-interview-anytime/

Someone said that I would be denied

They were wrong. Once your 129f is approved you have one year to process through your Embassy. Your application will be extended 4 months at a time till you reach one year. If you do nothing your application DIES and is returned to the 129f graveyard.

Yes some have had problems at their POE but that is because the Agent was not up to speed. Just be certain that once you are approved you are in the States under that one year and you will not have any problems. Seems like you will be interviewing in the next couple of months so I see that you will be fine.

Start reading and gathering your documents for the interview. Just follow my website and you should not have any problems. Others before you did and they are now in the States having no problems.

But what if I have the interview after the expiration date and they see that it expired? Won't I have problems then?

You can't have your interview after the one year of validity of your K-1 application. If it's past your first expiration date then it's not a problem. You can pass three expiration dates before you should have a concern. When do you plan on your interview and when will you want to leave the Philippines?

As soon as I can have my passport. And the soonest appointment I can get is on September 13. Then I'll probably be able to get the passport two weeks after that, so I can probably set the interview around October. But it expires in October 6 XD and if I can get approved then I'll go as soon as I get the visa (hopefully)

Haha it's hard. But just to be clear, that expiration date means nothing and that we won't need to do anything about it or to try and extend that date then?

Nothing at this time. Go to my website and use the information. It will give you peace of mind.
