According to the incident report, Zimmerman said he was recognized while eating at the restaurant and as he was explaining to people sitting at the table that he shot Martin in self-defense, a large man approached him and asked "you're bragging about that?"

Deputies said the man left and came back minutes later, asking Zimmerman why he hadn't left. The fight escalated when the man then punched Zimmerman in the face, according to the report, WKMG reported.

The man has not been arrested.

I'm not surprised that he got punched. Nor that the responsible gun owners of VJ regret and bemoan their hero apparently forgot his trusty gun.

I think everything I said was directly from the OP and the responses. I think I embellished with the term pathetically, characterizing my take on GZ telling fellow patrons he killed in self defense. But that's about it.

I am fairly certain that GZ's victim is quite dead. The only explanation being a truly poorly prosecuted case as to his having gotten away with at least negligent manslaughter.

The charge was second degree murder though, not only negligent manslaughter. I am not saying there was no negligence on his part or that he bears no responsibility for what happened. My point is he was falsely accused of something, that clearly was not the case, at least in my opinion(and the jury's apparently).

How do you figure he was bragging? Nothing in the article says that he was bragging, just that he was accused of it by the puncher. Maybe people recognized him, approached him, asked him curious questions and he explained his side, which the other man overheard and blew well out of proportion? We weren't there so we don't know.
