Ok this might be the millionth time this has been asked but I'm at a complete loss not knowing what to do. My parents are here on a B1-B2 visa and I was thinking of filing a green card for them. I read that since they are here legally I can file a I-130 and I-485 simultaneously. I do not know what the process entails. Do I file the, together or separate. And how much would it cost per person for the filing? My dad is over 80 years old would he need biometrics? Are there disqualifying health factors based on age? I also read somewhere that it would be advisable to wait for 60 days before I file. Please someone advise.

Ok this might be the millionth time this has been asked but I'm at a complete loss not knowing what to do. My parents are here on a B1-B2 visa and I was thinking of filing a green card for them. I read that since they are here legally I can file a I-130 and I-485 simultaneously. Correct I do not know what the process entails. Do I file the, together or separate. Separate. They each get their own petition. And how much would it cost per person for the filing? 1-485 = $985, I-130 = $420. My dad is over 80 years old would he need biometrics? Adults 80 and over are exempted. Are there disqualifying health factors based on age? If the immigrant was in their own country, maybe. But in your case no. I also read somewhere that it would be advisable to wait for 60 days before I file. Immigration myth. Please someone advise.

The process can take about a year. It is pretty straight forward. You can use the guides on this site for extra help.

The issue you may have is health coverage for your parents. They do not qualify for Medicaid/Medicare and health insurance is very expensive. If your dad needs medication or treatment then the cost would be covered out of pocket.
