Visiting wife's family after getting green card help!

My wife and I are planning a trip back to Vietnam at the end of January 2017. We've been married over a year now and she already has her green card with her married name, but she still has her Vietnamese passport with her maiden name. How is that going to work when buying plane tickets and going through immigration check points? Do we buy the plane ticket matching the name on her green card or her passport and will there be any conflicts while traveling?

Tickets MUST be in her passport name, as that is the document airlines and foreign countries heed.

She'll bring her marriage certificate as proof of name change along with the green card.

This is fairly common, and A'n'L already gave the best answer. Usually, CBP does not compare the GC to the boarding passes upon re-entry, but keep the marriage certificate with you just in case. You can check with Vietnam to see how easy it is to change you wife's passport name, but in some countries this is very difficult. This is the case for my wife, so we just do the tickets in her passport name when she goes back home.
