How much is to much?

Hello everyone,

I have browsed the forums and I am unable to find anything specific about this.
We are nearing an expected NOA2 date for a K-1 application and I am starting to gather necessary documents.
We have literally (and I do mean literally) thousands of pages of chat logs, emails and phone records from
this calendar year alone.

How much is to much? How little is to little?

Should I just choose a few emails from each month and a couple of daily chats from each week?

I read somewhere else that the beginning and ending messages from each chat (date and time stamped) would be
sufficient... true or false?

Also, should logs prior to filing the 129F be included or are they meaningless?

If it is relevant to the answer of any these questions this is the Manila embassy.

Any help will be appreciated, thank you!

This subject is very embassy specific, the PI is one of the easiest consulates so you do not need too much.

A few chats per week are fine, same for phone logs, some monthly emails.

Yes, do use communication prior to filing, they like to know how you met and how your relationship grew and developed.

Beginning chat page and end chat page is fine or only the beginning page as long as name/date shows.

Take as much as you are comfortable with to clearly present your love story and relationship to convince a stranger

with not just chats but other evidence and photos.

Evidence should tell your story, highlighted events and future planning (wedding) chats/photos, quality trumps quantity.

I took a couple pages from a couple weeks apart from our chats and just put it together. I wrote that if they wanted more, I have full conversations. I'm sure they don't have the time to go through and read it all anyway... So that should be sufficient. I included emails of flight itineraries and vacations we took together.

Are you gathering this for when you send I-485 or for the interview since you have already sent your I-129F?

I included chats from the beginning until we filed the petition, and then chats from where I left off to when we filed for adjustment of status. If that makes sense to you...

Thank you this helps. I was not looking forward to sending about 75 pounds of paper overseas!

Thanks I like the idea of a letter explaining more is available. No this is not for the I-485, but for the K-1 consulate interview.

I sent about an extra 20 pages for the embassy interview, on top of what I submitted with the original application. 2 pages of color pictures, a few pages of chats from the last week, a few more pages of chats from a few months after my most recent visit. I also sent a few receipts of money I sent.

My fiance literally just finished his interview and passed, if yours is prepared and confident she will breeze through. Good luck!

Hi!

If you want to save on shipping cost, check the requirements and consider sending only the documents that will need your wet signature. She can prepare those that doesn't require to be original or doesn't need your wet signature and the 75 pounds of Evidence of Genuine Engagement here in the Philippines.

I just got approved last Monday. For our Evidence of Genuine Engagement, I included a picture for every place we visited, one monthly screenshot of FaceTime and chat log in the last two years. I also included passport stamps and visa and hotel bookings. I printed everything out and it was 150 pages in total- just for the Evidence of Genuine Engagement. I have a little OC tendency lol. The CO officers in Manila Embassy did not look at the entire150 pages. They just scanned and checked probably 5 pages.

Just send her the following:

1.NVC letter (I read some just printing out the the CEAC website)

2. Affidavit of Support, which includes your 1040, w2, recent pay stubs, certificate of employment and bank certificate. It is in the packet 3 requirement, but the consular officer did not ask for it during my interview. However, I heard some COs asking for it.

3. Proof of termination of prior marriage, if applicable.

4. Also, send an updated intent to marry and a copy of the bio page of your passport (Not required, I just want to be prepared. My OC tendency.)

Thanks, with any luck I will have little if any shipping costs to get the documents to her as I have already scheduled a trip to visit her in a few weeks. Hopefully, we will have our NOA2 before I visit so I can bring the bulk of the docs with me. With the possibility of yet another 2 - 2 1/2 months until the interview we couldn't stand being apart any longer even though I will be with her at the interview as well.

Thanks for all the replies, ideas and tips. I now feel much more confident about this topic.

For the processing in the Philippines is simple. I sent a package for our 129f of about 30 pages. Just a little of everything. For your interview bring the information needed for the I134. That would be IRS tax transcript for 2015, W2's, recent pay stubs and a letter from your employer. If you are divorced she will need that for the interview and CFO. More details are at my free website for processing through. I outline every step, where and how to get the necessary documents and how to avoid the "gotchas". http://tinyurl.com/ob9xoa8

- Just pick some emails and chats that span the months/ years of the relationship. I just actually pick one or two in a month and skips some months. I included more on the 1st month and the last month.

I read somewhere else that the beginning and ending messages from each chat (date and time stamped) would be

sufficient... true or false?

Also, should logs prior to filing the 129F be included or are they meaningless? - include from the start of the relationship

I also have blogs in my signature below on our interview experience and photos of the docs I presented.

The only original that you need to send her is the affidavit of support and letter of intent to marry - these needs wet signatures. Both are actually not being asked lately but still safer to bring it during the interview.

All the rest can be scanned and she can printed it out in PH.
