Just checked and our status says "Ready" - filled out the DS 160 but confused what to do next. I am confused how we are supposed to pay for the visa fee, since I will be the one paying for it from the US. In terms of payment it says this:

CURRENTLY WE DO NOT ACCEPT OVERSEAS ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFERS. YOU CAN ONLY MAKE THIS PAYMENT IF YOU MAINTAIN A RUPEE BANK ACCOUNT IN INDIA.

Has anyone had experience paying with a US account? or what did you do in this case?

Also, will my fiance be notified of the interview date or can we go ahead and schedule ourselves once we pay? We are really anxious to know the interview date to plan travel.

thank you VJ fam! soo excitedddd almost there!!

You can send the funds to your fiancee and have them pay it in cash at a designated bank.

Are you referring to the $165 visa fee? We paid that online while in India with my US debit card. No problems whatsoever. Also, I wouldn't pay that until he actually has the visa in hand. It can also be paid once your fiancé is in the states with you as well, although I've heard differing stories as to whether you wait longer to get your GC if you wait to pay. Some say yes, some say it didn't make a difference. Good luck!

I don't understand why you would pay this USCIS visa fee prior to even knowing if the visa will be issued!? If the visa is not issued - what then?

OP is going for a K-1 visa and they are referring to the fee you must pay when you complete the DS-160 for non-immigrant visas.

The fee you are referring to is the $165 GC fee which is required for immigrant visas.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. It's difficult getting details on my phone. Apologies for any confusion.
