Hey guys,

So ill be leaving Karachi for the US in 4 days and I have a few queries..

1) In the petition we mentioned my fiancee's US address where she was residing at the time of filing which is mentioned on my K1 visa issued. Back then she was sharing an apartment with her friend. Since my visa got approved, she has rented a new apartment for us and moved in recently. Can you please guide me about the procedure for communicating such address change to USCIS and should it be done before my departure from Pakistan or upon arrival in the US?

2) Some people have told me here that not having a return ticket raises eyebrows for the Pakistan immigration authorities and they may ask for additional documentation. And the Pakistan authorities may not be aware of that a K1 is a non-immigrant visa and they wont take my word for it. Would like if anyone would share their experience with the Pakistan immigration. Im planning on taking copies of my petition, NOAs and visa interview letter.

3) Want to take some medicines with me (painkillers, antibiotics for fever, vitamin supplements). My mom and uncle are both doctors and would a prescription my them on their prescription pads should suffice?? Or should I avoid taking medicines and get them there. Im only looking to take a small amount as precaution for the initial adjustment to change in weather and food till my body gets accustomed to it.

4) Taking Qatar Airways so my layover will be at Doha. Im assuming i wont go through immigration/POE there but rather at IAD.

Thanks in advance!!!!! :))

P.S. I passed and completed my Chartered Accountancy this past Monday so now i dont have to worry about applying for AP for completing my education...been a good week so far :)

Congratulations.

1) If they ask your intended address when crossing the border, you give it. If not, you'll make them aware during your AOS filing.

2) No clue.

3) A small amount for personal use, with the pre-scriptions (preferably also in English) should be fine.

4) Only a few non-US airports have US pre-clearance, doesn't look like Doha does - so your POE will be the first airport you arrive at in the US.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Thanks...

So if asked at the POE, my intended address being different to the one printed on my visa should not be a problem.. also doesnt the sealed package i got from the embassy gets mailed to the address on the visa after they process it???

No problem.

You don't get the package back, it is forwarded to USCIS to join your file.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.
