Misa, I know youre heading for the border tomorrow (Friday)... Just wanted to say have a safe trip and hopefully you will get through the border quickly!

Have a safe and fun trip.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Made it! We left Toronto Friday at noon and stayed overnight in a Quality Inn suites (snuck the animals in) and got to VA today at about 8 p.m.

The POE was a breeze and the officer was really nice. Now to get all the animals acclimated to their new environment and my husband's two cats.

Tee hee! It seriously ended up being a breeze. I still need to write up a review of the interview though (soon).

The ABF relocube arrived on Thursday and we packed and purged like crazy. ABF picked up the relocube along with the paperwork (customs form and photocopy of my K3 visa, passport and birth certificate) the next morning. We got the first car, packed the animals (3 cats & 1 dog) and the essentials into the car and headed for the Peace Bridge (Buffalo, NY).

Got to the border, pulled into park and went inside. Waited about 45 mins to be called and then 15 minutes for processing which consisted basically just of a small chat with the officer and an explanation of the K3 and what I need to do for AOS. While my husband was waiting (I ended up grabbing him after a few minutes to come inside with me), CBP petted my dog, didn't bother looking at the cats, didn't ask for the animals' paperwork and just briefly looked in the car trunk. Didn't ask to see an itemised list of what was in the car either (not much).

Then off to the Buffalo airport to pick up the second vehicle. Parked in the short term parking garage, got the 2nd vehicle (a much bigger one thankfully), loaded the animals and our stuff in that, returned the 1st car and away we went.

Once it got dark we pulled into Binghamton, NY and went to the first hotel which was Quality Suites. Didn't ask about their "pet policy" and just snuck everyone inside. All the animals were fine and settled in after a few minutes.

Woke up this morning and loaded everyone back in the car and were on the road by noon... drove drove drove and finally reached VA at about 8 p.m. and all settled in! Not sure when the relocube with my stuff is getting here. I assume Tuesday at the earliest (2 business days), hopefully that will be okay too.

Oddly enough, no hiccups along the way. My animals are still getting used to his cats and vice-versa but it is going strangely well. Knock on wood that it continues to go smoothly!

Glad to hear you and the animals all made it through with no problems... I dont think well be asking about the "pet policies" either after 8-10 hr drives (weve got a 4 day drive!)...LOL..

and glad to hear that you had no problems with U-Pack so far *knock wood*
