Hey,

So we just send in our package with I130, I485, I864, I765, I131 last friday and this monday (August 1st) it arrived in Chicago. I am already now sitting on ants partly because I am not totally sure about the next steps. So this is think what is going to happen now please let me know when I am wrong.

- i am getting an email saying they got the package and they start working on it

- they send it to the local uscis field office

- I get a biometrics appointment

- I get my work permit and advanced parole

- we get our interview appointment

- hopefully get my green card

Are the steps different or did i miss something? How long until i can expect to hear from them for the first time?

Thanks in advance

Your steps are pretty accurate :) Sometimes the order might shift around. For example, I got my interview notice BEFORE I got my EAD. I ended up getting the EAD about a week before the actual interview.

Also, should they require additional information, you'll receive an RFE (request for evidence). At this point, just wait for the email/text (if you filled out the form g1145), and your Notice of Action in the mail :)

Yep, you're pretty much right and prepare to for a long wait, no need to be on ants:)

In a few days you'll get a text and email with receipt numbers and your checks will get cashed (sometimes in reverse order), then you get hard copy receipts in the mail. Within a couple of weeks you get a biometrics appointment letter and your appointment will probably be around last week of August. After the biometrics, within a couple of weeks your I-485 status might change to "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" - then you're all clear, or within that time period you might get an RFIE.

For the I-765/I-131 combo card the wait is around 75-100 days, depending on USCIS workload, your background check timeline and whether you get an RFIE (if it's on I-765/I-131 forms it will definitely slow that down, if on other two forms - it wouldn't necessarily affect it, but still might).

And when your case get transferred to a local office (as well as your interview appointment) - depends on the local office. NYC and San Fran and Chicago can have more than 8 months wait, for example, while some others can get interviews notices before EAD. You can check your office processing times on the USCIS website.

you should also fill out your timeline so that it's easier for folks here answer your questions if you have any:)
