Wrong/Expired Green Card Copy sent with N-400

Alright I finally submitted by N-400 package with copies. And a few days later my husband was looking at my green card that I had copied and sent, that was sitting on the table...well I realized sent my OLD green card that expired in 2013, not my updated one:-(. I must have had it stored in my folder with all my immigration documents and made a copy of my old one instead of new one which expires in 2023! It looks as though they have started to process my application as I have a pending CC transaction for $680 from USCIS. The package was delivered to USCIS Phoenix on 07/29/16.

Help! Should I wait for an RFA? Should I attempt to call?

Thanks,

Christine

At this point, just wait if you get an RFE or you could just show your new card during the interview in case of no RFE.

1) Several people have applied with expired green cards (actually expired; no new card in their possession) and been approved.

2) Before the interview, they only look at your green card to verify your eligibility. The Resident Since date is what is important, not the expiration date as your status as a permanent resident does not expire with the card.

I wouldn't do anything now.

If they have a problem with your application, they will return it in a few weeks and will not process your payment. You'll have lost a few weeks but will have a chance to resend.

This is very unlikely, in my opinion.

Since they processed the payment, it sounds like they've accepted your application (because the card shows you are eligible). You can just take your new green card to the interview so they can make a copy of it.

My husband's greencard expired while we were waiting for his citizenship interview, and I've been reassured numerous times by our lawyer and also by a USCIS agent on the phone that he doesn't need to renew it ahead of the interview.... so I would think the fact that you sent the wrong one but actually renewed it would be even less of an issue.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart"
