When you were invited for your interview, were you sent to a specific location in the area where you filed, or was there an option to chose a different location? I'm asking because my wife and I will be moving in a few months (i.e. probably before we get the invitation to the interview) and I'm about to send in my I-130+I-485 package these days.

PS: Sorry for posting a similar topic twice, but it seemed like the previous one didn't catch much attention...

Is your spouse already here on a K3?

If so, I'm fairly certain you won't have to file an I130 as you would have already filed one... and it would probably be wise to delay filing until after you move. People have had serious problems with moving during the application process.

My wife is US citizen, I'm the immigrant. I believe we will have to file for both the I-130 as well as I-485 (change of status). Could somebody verify this? Of course in addition we need our G-325a's, the medical examinations, the Affidavit of Support, and all other items detailed e.g. on the visajourney.com list for K-3's.

I guess my previous message was misunderstood. Could it still be a problem if we move during the application process?

Thanks

So, you're here on a K3 and adjusting status. Yes, changing mailing addresses during the AOS process can become a big problem, even if you stay in the same town. Supposedly USCIS has a new online change of address system but it is pretty new. If there is a way you can arrange a single mailing address, either by using the UPS store or delaying the filing until you have the new address you would be wise to do so.

A recent example with which I am familiar is a couple who filed, then moved. His interview was scheduled but the mail wasn't forwarded due to USCIS's no forward policy. He didn't know, didn't make the interview and now is going through an appeals process with a hefty fee, has no green card, can't work and could be deported. If you know the city to which you plan to move, you could get a UPS Store mailbox there and use it as your address. Otherwise, I think you're better off waiting.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Thanks, that's good to know. Will I have to get a new medical exam if I wait? I got it here two weeks ago but don't know how long they're valid for.
