Trump won. Do u think it's going to affect our cases?

What about those U.S citizen son/daughter who made an adjustment of status(currently pending) for their parents who already overstayed their visa for less tahn 180 days. Are they already considered as illegal immigrants and could possibly be affected with the newly elected president's campaign for illegal immigrants deportation? any insights for this is greatly appreciated. thanks

I know some are really worried that trump became president. A week ago i talked with my immigration lawyer about it. The current law is that no one can be deported if they didnt break any law. If you came on a visa and you filled adjustment of status while your visa was still valid (also the Visa waiver program) you are not considered an illegal immigrant. If you overstayed a visa and filed for adjustment of status you could become problems because of it but arent necessarily considered an illegal immigrant. Trump can make just very few legal decisions without the approval of the congress and non of these decisions could affect us in any way. As soon as Trump will move in the white house he cant just change stuff. He needs to write a very complex bills, these take often months if not years to write until they are finalized. Often the congress will reject the bill and the president has to write a new version. If the congress accepts the bill they will debate if they will approve it not which could take several months as well. By the time everyone of us should have the green card and depending when the start writing the bill we might even have the 10 year green card by then. Immigration laws need often longer to change than other laws so we all dont need to worry. Just dont break any laws, which you shouldnt do any way ;)

I know my green card will be conditional one because my husband and I we have been married less than 2 years (1 year and 4 months now). But does anyone know when I can apply to remove the condition? Can I file it as soon as we have been married for 2 years or I have to count from holding the conditional green card for 2 years? I know the immigration officer will explain it during/after the interview, but I am just curious. Thank you in advance for your input!

The window opens 90 days prior to your 2 year conditional green card expiration date. USCIS will send back your package if you send the application before those 90 days window even by a day. Edited by alexpop13

Does anyone know if we go get a driver's license with our EAD, how long is the license going to be valid for? I know that usually DMV will have to verify our immigration status, so if we are still waiting for our GC, what kind of license would we get?

I haven't received my EAD yet, but was told it should be coming soon, hopefully I will get it next week. Good luck guys!

I haven't received my EAD yet, but was told it should be coming soon, hopefully I will get it next week. Good luck guys!

The driver's license expiration date will be tied with the EAD expiration date, so a year.

It shows in the gc when the validity date then you can file for another 10 years 90 days before your gc expired.

RFE's can happen at any point... even at your interview a RFE can be issued if a document is missing and they don't relies until that point.. Just cause you haven't received 1 don't assume your out of the woods for dodging that bullet until you have your GC in hand

Just got home from my biometrics aappointment. Arrived at the Asc 2 hours early for my appointment but i was accomodated and done within 35 minutes. Now waiting for my ead to be in production oonline

(L) March 16,2015- we got married in the Philippines

Our AOS Journey:

March 1,2016 - I arrived in the US with a B2 visa (visitor)

Day 00: August 4,2016 - we submitted our AOS package (I-130, I-485, I-765) (USPS Priority Mail)

Day 0: August 8, 2016 - Package arrived at USCIS Chicago Lockbox

Day 1: August 9, 2016 - Received date in NOA (Form I-797C, Notice of Action)

Day 9: August 17, 2016 - Notice date of NOAs

Day 11: August 19, 2016 (12:26am) - received email notifications that our application has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing.

Day 13: August 21, 2016 - all cases receipts are working online. Registered for email and text alerts.

Day 14: August 22,2016 - got hard copies of NOAs on the mail. Notice date is August 17, 2016.
Day 44: September 21,2016 - called USCIS to follow up my biometrics letter. I was given a referral number & was advised to wait & call again after 30 days if biometrics don't arrived. (30 days should be October 21).

Day 67: October 14,2016 - called USCIS again and request to talked to a tier 2. Tier 2 made request and sent it to my local office. Advised to call back again on the 29th if the biometrics letter don't arrive.

Day 84: October 31,2016 - received biometrics letter in the mail (finally! Almost 2 months from NOA 1 date)

Day 88: November 4,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'Case was Approved' on October 31.

Day 91: November 7,2016 - received EAD approval notice in the mail

Day 98: November 14,2016 - Biometrics appointment in Tampa (in and out within 35 mins)

Day 99: November 15,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'New Card Is Being Produced'

Day 102: November 18,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'Card Mailed to Me'

Day 106: November 22,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'Card Was Delivered To Me By The Post Office' and found it in the mailbox! :)

Day 112: November 28,2016 - Applied for SSN

Day 118: December 3,2016 - SS card received in the mailbox :)

Day 172: January 27, 2017 - Received a text message from USCIS that there is a change in my case. I now have a schedule for interview and it's on March 2!

Day 175: January 30, 2017 - Received the Interview Appointment letter in the Mail! :) 

Day 206: March 2, 2017 - Interview schedule.

Still waiting for my EAD card to arrive in the mail. Card is being "produced" as of November 2nd. Hoping to get the actual card soon. How

long does it take for it to arrive? It says on the letter that if it doesn't arrive inside 30 days, call USCIS again.

Waiting for AOS interview to be scheduled.....ready to schedule as of October 19th.

long does it take for it to arrive? It says on the letter that if it doesn't arrive inside 30 days, call USCIS again.
