Hello All! My wife is having her AOS interview in a week (YAY!) and I am helping to compile all of the final documentation. The only problem that I am having is that it states copies and originals of all documentation submitted. However, my parents (co-sponsors on Affidavit of support) are not comfortable sending their birth certificates to us. Would we be able to use copies of their birth certificates (we used them in the original paperwork) or do we need originals of them as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

DmandKm congrats. Take the originals only you are responsible for. I am sure they will be fine without their birth certificates. If they are then tell them your parents concerns and they should provide a way that will meet all parties concerns. Good luck!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday, hubby received his combo card and today he was able to get his SS#, An RFE was sent for a copy of his birth certificate and it was last updated September 26th. So how long after receiving Combo card did you get your interview? Also, since we are near the 90 day mark when should I make an inquiry, call and talk with tier 2 person, or ask for assistance with my senator>

Any advise would be helpful. My main concern is I will have to leave mid to end of January 2017 for about two months for work and I was hoping to have this done before I left hubby and the country. Thanks!

The 90 day period only applies for the ead and Ap. You'll have to check your field office processing time to see which date they're working, you should be able to put in a request if your receipt date surpassed the one they're working on. If the adjustment is based on a k1 visa, an interview might not be needed though. It's unpredictable how long it will take either way

Try a walk in? I got my bio last Friday and did a walk in on Monday. I think average is 2-3 weeks but I don't know, hopefully someone else has a better idea.

If we do a walk in do we still have to show up to our original appointment date and time?

I think if you want to, you should start applying for a job and if you get it when your EAD isn't there yet, expedite your EAD.

I am in the same boat as you. It has been 78 days for me and I even did a service request online and they said they were working on my case and to wake 60 days (Jan. 8th would be day 60).
