Our Story:

:idea: May 31,2011-we met thru a common friend in FB (we've been bestfriends since then)

(F) February 24,2014-we officially became a couple

:wub: November 25,2014 - got engaged

(L) March 16,2015- we got married in the Philippines

Our AOS Journey:

March 1,2016 - I arrived in the US with a B2 visa (visitor)

Day 00: August 4,2016 - we submitted our AOS package (I-130, I-485, I-765) (USPS Priority Mail)

Day 0: August 8, 2016 - Package arrived at USCIS Chicago Lockbox

Day 1: August 9, 2016 - Received date in NOA (Form I-797C, Notice of Action)

Day 9: August 17, 2016 - Notice date of NOAs

Day 11: August 19, 2016 (12:26am) - received email notifications that our application has been accepted and routed to the USCIS National Benefits Center for processing.

Day 13: August 21, 2016 - all cases receipts are working online. Registered for email and text alerts.

Day 14: August 22,2016 - got hard copies of NOAs on the mail. Notice date is August 17, 2016.
Day 44: September 21,2016 - called USCIS to follow up my biometrics letter. I was given a referral number & was advised to wait & call again after 30 days if biometrics don't arrived. (30 days should be October 21).

Day 67: October 14,2016 - called USCIS again and request to talked to a tier 2. Tier 2 made request and sent it to my local office. Advised to call back again on the 29th if the biometrics letter don't arrive.

Day 84: October 31,2016 - received biometrics letter in the mail (finally! Almost 2 months from NOA 1 date)

Day 88: November 4,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'Case was Approved' on October 31.

Day 91: November 7,2016 - received EAD approval notice in the mail

Day 98: November 14,2016 - Biometrics appointment in Tampa (in and out within 35 mins)

Day 99: November 15,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'New Card Is Being Produced'

Day 102: November 18,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'Card Mailed to Me'

Day 106: November 22,2016 - I-765 (EAD) updated online to 'Card Was Delivered To Me By The Post Office' and found it in the mailbox! :)

Day 112: November 28,2016 - Applied for SSN

Day 118: December 3,2016 - SS card received in the mailbox :)

Day 172: January 27, 2017 - Received a text message from USCIS that there is a change in my case. I now have a schedule for interview and it's on March 2!

Day 175: January 30, 2017 - Received the Interview Appointment letter in the Mail! :) 

Day 206: March 2, 2017 - Interview schedule.

I have a friend in San Francisco who had her interview today and the officer told her that is just a standard letter they send to everyone. She only sent the DS-3025 and the officer had the medical she did in Romania in the file. She was approved on the spot.

​Hello. My husband received his EAD card today. Some of the jobs he qualifies for require US Citizenship or Permanent Resident. Maybe it's terminology I am not understanding but how will this effect his ability to apply for the jobs. Can he apply with AOS pending or should he wait? Please any advice is appreciated.! Thanks.

A lot of the companies don't want to sponsor for H-1B visa - work visa. So I interpret it as they don't want to deal with H-1B visa for any candidate. And they want to hire someone who is eligible to work in the U.S without any problems.

For his case, he can just go ahead and apply for the job. And when he does the application online, check the box that he is "permanent resident", because he is and the status is just pending.

Later on, he can talk to HR people about the situation and it should be fine. He should have a green card in hand before the EAD expired.

I just went through recruitment process and my job starts in Jan. And the EAD card is eligible to use as the document for employers to verify the employment eligibility.

He is not a resident yet so he can't claim he is. Having and EAD doesn't grant him permanent residency, only allows him to work. Depending on the job (USPS for example) the permanent resident can't be a conditional green card holder.

Went back for our second Biometric. And finally Received combo Card in the mail.

Like what they said from beginning.. you nee a lot of patience...
