On friday we recieved both a hard copy letter saying that our petition for permanent resident had been approved and we received....drum roll please.....the ACTUAL GREEN CARD!!!!!! This is so exciting my husband is now looking for a job and we both feel incredibly lucky that our case moved so quickly. The website hasn't updated to terminate our ead or ap application, but I guess it doesn't really matter now.

We are now going to start working on:

getting a social security card that doesn't say "valid for work only with approval" or something like that. I'm not sure how to do that yet, but hopefully it isn't terribly difficult.

getting my husband on my health insurance

getting him a credit card in his name so he can begin having credit

Good luck to everyone as you continue your waits. I hope that everyones approvals come as quickly as possible.

Congrats!! Good luck on your husband's job hunting!!

I have a question. EAD status changed to New card is being produced

AP status changed to Approved - We received a hardcopy for AP but not EAD. Is this normal?

Same thing happened in my case. my EAD card status changed 3 weeks later to card was mailed to me and then I got it a week later so dont worry. They status updates for EAD and AP are for everyone a bit different.

They just spoke to an immigration officer...

I don't get what all the urgency/repeated calling is for. If people showed a little more patience, then the phone lines would be much quieter, thus freeing up officers to actually process more of the cases!

I have to disagree with you. i worked in a company that worked exactly like USCIS with 1 tire and 2 tire. i worked int he 2 tire and i found it always helpful when customers called and it actually did speed up some of my work because we are humans and we make mistakes and forget things. If you call you often remind them to do things. The call takes just a couple of minutes it is not like you keep them from work for hours.

My account is locked.???

I agree . Were here to help each other and share experiences not to to be so mean...

Mine got locked too, i just did a new one and now I get for some reason every email and text message twice but thats okay :)

I just went today to get my SSN. They just looked at my Passport, marriage certificate, and EAD card (in your case the green card). You need to fill out a really simple and short application form which you can grab in the social security office or download online. Theyll aslo ask if you every visited or lived in the US before and if you every had any type of work permit before.

I've been checking my case status several times a day....and nothing yet. The EAD is the one that we need right now.....

Have you made a service request? Since your case has been pending more than 75 days you definitely should.

I was planning on calling USCIS tomorrow afternoon if nothing arrives in the mail. Service request to follow if necessary.

Still waiting for interview to be scheduled.....ready to do that as of Oct. 19th. on the USCIS website.

Thankfully! I just checked my USCIS Online account, and today it's my 74th day

EAD - New Card Is Being Produced

AP - Name Was Updated, because when I went to my bio appointment, I could not provide any ID with my new name. I am assuming that my AP is going to have my old name as on my passport.

Hopefully I will be getting them soon, and an interview appointment. Good luck to all of you August folks! (L)
