They just spoke to an immigration officer...

I don't get what all the urgency/repeated calling is for. If people showed a little more patience, then the phone lines would be much quieter, thus freeing up officers to actually process more of the cases!

What an absurd recommendation. If i had not followed up on my case, do you think it would be looked into?

For your information. I read a thread on an October 2015 filer who doesn't know where his file is at.

Please give us a break here please.

Hey!, i do not want to haul insults at you because you do not think issues through before typing.

Have a good afternoon!

In many cases, there are problems like "I did biometrics, but USCIS did not acknowledge it."

In situations like this, a call is warranted.

OR

"I never received a biometrics letter." Since there is no way to know that a letter was mailed to you, you can't know that you missed your appointment.

If you haven't received a biometrics letter after a reasonable amount of time, you are opening yourself up to much longer wait times due to an internal error at USCIS OR a postal problem. It is important to bring this to their attention. In these cases, a person should call.

If USCIS had better electronic tracking of the biometrics stuff or if cases of communication SNAFU were rare, then yes, it would be a waste of time to constantly be calling.

Thank you! Beautifully written!

Besides they are not doing me a favor. The fees are going up in December 2016, so let them(USCIS) use the funds properly and invest in the needed infrastructure.

If i had not followed up on my case, do you think it would be looked into?

Yes, of course it would have been. Everything is computerized, and there's a queue (albeit the queue might not run in date order). I don't believe that calling every few weeks really does anything: in fact, looking at your posts, you called once and were told to be patient, called again a few weeks later and were told the appointment was scheduled and to expect a letter. This is just the normal process; I don't believe they rushed you to the top of the queue because you called!

The guidelines are quite clear: a service request can be made at around 75 days. Prior to that, the procedures are just based on anecdotal evidence.

Personally, I think makes sense to call if there is a specific issue, but no sense to call "just to check on things" if everything is still within normal processing times.

As for my husband's AOS, today is day 74, still no news on EAD/AP. I plan on making the online service request tomorrow if we don't hear anything tonight. I'm a bit disheartened as I've been tracking the 500 cases after ours in the app and the overwhelming majority have had their EADs approved in the past couple weeks, but at the same time we always planned on 90 days so nothing to complain about so far. I've been encouraging my husband to apply to jobs as we could always expedite if he got a job offer, but he seems a bit shy about it.

We got an RFIE, the response to which was received about a month ago, and I'm worried that is going to delay the EAD processing. I'm quite annoyed about it actually because we had already sent them literally everything they asked for in the RFIE, and more. When I spoke to a Tier 2 person on the phone after getting the RFIE, she told me the papers had just probably been misplaced. Sigh.

Your post is ludicrous. I followed up on my case, if i never did, my case will not be looked into.

Beside. You have done your biometrics, so why bother?

I do not think we are the ones clogging-up the system.

The whole immigration system needs a an overhaul.

Cheers!

Just want to share something about the "walk in" biometric appointments. A tier 2 told me mail the appointment notice back and write down "on xxxx day, I did an walk in and USCIS office let me complete my biometric etc."

I am personally not sure if it's necessary to do that. Because in the system, he is able to see my bio is complete. So I don't know what's the point of mailing the lette back, what do you think?
