I'm not sure about your other questions but I do know that the driver's license expires when your k1 visa expires. :(

The k1 expires on port of entry... the date on the k1 is to inform you that you need to enter the country by that date but as soon as you arrive in the country it expires

Yeah..well in the state where i'm at they based the expiration of my driver's license on the date my visa expires (the expiration date written on the k1 visa)

I'm in Texas, so any point of getting a license ? I will be moving to New York soon though, but it would be nice to get that out of the way.

Aslong as you have a valid US drivers license if it move states most states just do a license transfer but that involves another trip to the DMV... some states each vary sometimes require you to hold a learners permit first even if you a foreign license before you can get your full license other let you go straight for the full license... read up on both states and see the procedures

Thank you. I would like to hear from somebody , first hand experience, if they can tell me is it worth getting the drivers license now ? Will it last only as long as the k1 lasts(i have social security) or how it goes ? If i get it now and it expires do i just have to renew it or pass another drivers test ?

California

NOA1 - 19/01/2016

Me personally I would wait til your EAD is approved cause they give out a license that is valid for 1 year but that's just me since it's only 1 trip to DMV vs multiple to renew it again in a few months... if you get a license based off the k1 expiration which some DMV may or may not accept but if they do accept it when it's time to renew it you will just need to show your EAD and your NOA for you I-485 to get it renewed... the NOA shows proof of legal status and the EAD shows that you are legally aloud to be in the country until that expiration date... once again each state varies so unless you find someone that specifically has a Texas license and moved to New York your going to have to read up online on both DMV websites since each state differs... in VA which is where I am you can apply for either learners permit or a full license but I know in some other states that is not the case you need hold a learners permit regaurdless for a few months before getting the full license so you just need to look up how Texas rules work vs New York rules work and decide which 1 is leas hassle

They said they received my Case on August 29th. Today, I recseived my Biometrics notice for i465 and i765. Scheduled for 29th of september.

Can anyone tell me what happens at the biometrics? Do they just take fingerprints or a picture too ?

I need a passport plus the notice. How long it usually takes to get the employment authorization ? Also, if i get a drivers license after it, will it expire when my k1 does or not ? I was thinking to wait for my Green Card, but that might take long.

I received my NOA1 about a week after electronic notice.

In CA, they can't issue driver license if K1 visa has less than 2 months left but they can hold that until you get your EAD. Once you get GC, just renew the license.

Where I am, the validity of the the driver's license depends on the validity date of your i-94 (you can check your i-94 here). So if I got a license now, it will only be valid until October. But I guess in NC they allow you to use it for another month after the expiration date. But since I don't want to make multiple trips, my hubby and I decided to just wait for my EAD.

Also done with the biometrics yesterday!

2 hours wait for a 2 minutes fingerprints and picture taken.....

By the way, I am glad I had plenty of IDs on me, I had my driver license, but that wasn't enough! The notice had my new name and all my middle names, not my driver license. I am so glad I did my military dependent ID with all the names on it

Now, another 2 months of patience for the EAD and 10 months for the GC!

It's gonna take 10 months to get GC?

I heard they normally process military case faster, have you heard about it? Are you at Fort Bragg?
