1. Did you ask for an explanation while you were there? I would not have left without finding out what the call in 2 weeks was about are why you were called in 2 days early.

Good luck! :)

The name is not real, I i did asked the C O but she didn't respond, all she did was gave me my passport back along with my marriage certificate and the documents that was submitted to them, and she told me they will call me back in two weeks it they don't call me well that's it.

What a very strange reply! She said nothing at all? No reason? No justification? Plus the "if you hear nothing from us well that's it" response is terrible. Suppose they mis-dial and you don't get their message. How would you ever know?

I have no idea what she means by "that's it". That's it as in no visa? That's it as in the visa is being processed and you'll be able to pick it up some time later?

Do let us know what happens.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

You are not alone. My wife and I had our interview on Aug 2,2016. We were asked few questions n our passports n birth certificates were given back to us along with the administrative processing letter. They gave back our passports and told us that we are on AP. I then asked the CO why are we being put on AP n she told me that whenever another person is added to the case ( that is, one person winning the lottery as single n adding a wife or husband), the embassy will need more time to adjudicate the case. I was studying out of Liberia when my wife played. We realised she'd won the lottery after I came back to liberia. All we need to do is to wait n be hopeful. There have been a lot of sham marriages for the DV and so I think the embassy is trying to discourage the practice. What the embassy is forgetting to know is that almost every young man or woman playing the DV lottery has a relationship (married or otherwise). Many people will obviously get married to their lovers and travel together because they cannot afford waiting for years before reuniting with their love ones. Besides, the DV rule allows that.

Did you present any evidence to the consulate to prove that you and your wife had been in a genuine relationship before DV selection/getting married? There have been numerous cases of fake marriages for green cards around the world and in west Africa specifically, so they are cautious. This is why it is always suggested that people who marry after selection (no matter where in the world they are) take sufficient evidence to prove that the marriage is genuine.

We had with us, pictures, greeting cards, invitations, email exchanges etc. But we were not even given the chance to present any of these things. When I mentioned them, the CO told me that she didn't want to see them as almost every came with those things. The CO was unfriendly- providing very short answers to our questions. She made it appear like the consulate had decided to treat everyone who marries after winning the lottery in such a way. My only worry is that AP has no specific timeframe. If they choose to, they could delay you up to the end of September at which time the 2016 case will be closed. I have the feeling this is what they are trying to do. While that would discourage the practice, it will also hurt people like us who are in genuine marriages.
