If i was him, i would priority order a new long form to be on the safe side. Copies are apparently not permissible at all, and they require the long form. Maybe they'll take it but if he orders one now he'll get it on Tuesday and that way it won't set you back much.

He said they told him he was approved after he sends those in, but our case on CEAC still just says "Ready" not AP. i thought that was weird too but I'm not stressing over it. According to the other forum London Embassy requires long form. Did you get a 221g as well?

Did he receive a firm or anythibg to send with his original birth certificate? Did they tell him how to send it in?

Yes they gave him a 221g form that told him what he needed, and then he got an email from the same account he used to make the interview. The email had a link to the instructions and courier receipt which is what you need to mail back the stuff with their courier.
