I think my CS just ripped me off

Hello,

I went to a CS in Houston just so she adds VH to my vaccination sheet. I had TD vaccine in 2011, and my doctor from my home country put that as complete. However, the CS from Houston insisted that i take TDAP. Of course, I was trying to see here from my phone if i needed one, but someone who was with me was rushing me to complete their forms so i stopped.

So my question is did i just get ripped off ? I just wanted to do the transcription which was 25$, in the end i ended up paying 133$

It depends upon if they felt your vaccinations meet the us standards, it does not matter what the doctor in your country says.(Depends upon what country you are from). Our daughter was treated for TB in her country and cleared to come to US but the state we lived in required to redo the whole process to make the school district feel better. They also had her other two sisters do the whole process again. It was in the opinion of the CS that they felt the standards of medication did not meet the us standards and that is why they had to redo their treatment. Fortunately, our health insurance covered all the additional costs.

I see. However, from what I've read here it seems that it's enough to have TD for AOS, and that there is no need for an additional TDAP, especially considering that I had it back in 2011. The vaccinations that we get are usually from international companies, so they are pretty much the same. I'm talking about the immunization ones, but, still, from reading on here TDAP is not required when you have had TD.

" it seems that it's enough to have TD for AOS, and that there is no need for an additional TDAP, especially considering that I had it back in 2011." - if you are certain, you should have walked away without vaccination.

The vaccine is good for 10 years. However, it degrades. If you have a serious injury they usually give you a booster if it has been 5 years.

While TD is close, it is not identical to TDAP. My kids had to get TDAP for school requirements.

I'll just wait for someone with more genuine knowledge to pitch in. I'm not interested in what children need to get because of school's requirements. I'm interested to know if I actually needed this for AOS from K1, so that I can warn other people that they don't need it and warn them again this CS.

The CS said I would get an RFE if I didn't take TDAP, so if TDAP is not required then she lied through her teeth and that is malpractice. I can't findon the government's website which of this is true.

If you don't have any knowledge about this, please leave your unnecessary remarks to yourself.

TDAP required for here in Tennesse, so I'm sure it is required in every state and especially for immigration. My wife had to have this in Costa Rica. My daughter has had it 5 times since her birth (10 years old). It is not only a school requirement, but a general requirement. Every doctor I have ever seen has asked me "when was the last time you had a TDAP" TDAP is for Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis(Whooping cough). Whooping cough may still be a problem in your region and Tdap will be required to prevent you from spreading a disease to the people in the United States. Now you are protected from the disease, be happy and move on.

The difference between TD and TDAP is that TDAP contains Diphtheria & Pertussis vaccine. The US insist on vaccinating everyone for tetanus every 10 year. You got your in 2011. There was no need whatsoever to give you another TDAP unless you had not been given the TDAP before. If you got the TDAP as a child you only need a booster every 10 years.

I am certain that a civil surgeon under the watchful eye of the government wouldnt knowingly give someone a vaccine which was not needed.

You either had no documentation of having had said vaccine. Or the vaccine you had was not up to the civil surgeons standards.

They are protecting the general population from disease.

They do not "RIP" people off. If you didnt want to have them like stated before you could have just walked away... Very simple.

And nobody here is interested in your unnecessary "snotty" remarks either. Your original question was "did I get ripped off?". It's been answered. Members here are trying to help by trying to explain why it may have been needed. But you don't like the answers and develop an attitude. Could the moderator please lock this topic?

So you had TD in 2011 and you were given TDAP. How is this a "rip off"?

If the doctor have you TD despite your vaccination card showing record of your previous vaccination ( "in good standing") then you can accuse them of bn a rip off.

The doctor insisted and you agreed. If you accept a service, then you foot the bill whether you liked it or not. This ain't restaurant.

This is what is says on the information I got from my health clinic about who needs what vaccination.

For TD/TDAP for immigration. From age 7 to 65+

"Yes, substitute 1-time dose of TDAP for td booster: then boost with td every 10 years"

Does this answer your question? You got your TDAP because you probably haven't received it since school age or not at all.
