Hi everyone,

i posted this last week http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/604047-ds-260/

and i'm waiting for a reply from the embassy but apparently it takes 5 working days to get a reply.

So since i don't know what is needed on the DS-260 form, my question is this..

Are new affidavit of support and joint sponsor forms required again? because 3 years ago when

i had my first interview at the Embassy i took these form with me

thank you

Here is an example DS-260 where you can review everything they ask. It is from 2013 but will be more or less the same (if not exactly):

It is reasonable to expect that three year old financial information probably need a re-do using the current (7/2/15) version of form I-864. Previous versions are no longer accepted.

USCIS:

**Edition date

07/02/15. We cannot accept previous editions. (The edition date can be found at the bottom of every page on the Form and Instructions.)

Is this a new application?

I'm not sure about this question ''Is this a new application?''

maybe this can explain our situation http://www.visajourn...arre-situation/

I applied 3 years ago and was denied so i don't remember anything about this DS-260 form.

I know back then that i had affidavit of support and co sponsor forms with me for the embassy interview.

So are you saying those forms aren't good anymore and that i need new ones?

Can these forms be emailed to me or do they have to be mailed because the originals are needed?

sorry for all the dumb questions, this is all just confusing.

PS the instruction letter doesn't ask for the affidavit of support documents...

can the income of the sponsor and the income of the joint sponsor be added together,

to cover 125% (minimum income requirement)?

Or is it the income of the joint sponsor alone that has to cover it?

thank you

Nope, income of the joint sponsor alone. You can only combine joint sponsor's income with either their spouse's or their household member's.

You can if the sponsor and joint sponsor live in the same house. Like for example if your spouse (sponsor) lives with his Dad (joint sponsor), they can combine. Explained in the form instructions.

i have another question

if the first joint sponsor from 3 years ago changes his mind,

can someone else sponsor even though they have been working only this year?

or do they have to have been working for the last 3 years?

The would be a household member of the petitioner. It would not be a Joint Sponsor.

I know that, but the OP doesn't understand any of it. He might have been calling Dad the joint sponsor, so I was trying to illustrate a situation where combining works. If they don't live in the same house then he knows it won't work for him.

Where are you in the process? The joint sponsor from three years ago can't change his mind if the I-864 has been submitted abd approved. It states quite clearly on the form that his obligation ends only when the immigrant dies, permanently leaves the USA and relinquishes his green card, becomes a US citizen himself or works for 40 qualifying quarters (10 years). He signed that he agreed to this. He's in a contract with the government until one of the 4 situations occurs. Edited by JFH
