Happy to say that I had my interview on 06/05/2017 at the Oakland Park FL office at 9:10am.

I got to the USCIS building around 8:30-ish (it was hard not to leave earlier as my house is literally 2 blocks away from the location!)

I got called in at around 9:55am for my interview. The interview went smoothly.

After I swore to tell the truth, we went through the long list of questions and reviewing information provided on my application (Have you committed a crime? Belonged to the Communist Party? etc. etc.)

English Test-

  • Was asked to read: Who lives in the White House?
  • Asked to Write: The President lives in the White House.

History/Civics Questions asked-

  • What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen? (defend the Constitution and laws of the United States)
  • Where is the Statue of Liberty? (New York Harbour)
  • Name two national U.S. holidays. (Independence Day and Thanksgiving)
  • What movement tried to end racial discrimination? (The Civil Rights Moment)
  • When must all men register for the Selective Service? (Between 18 and 26 years of age)
  • What is the capital of your state? (Tallahassee)

In all honesty, it was very quick, it took no more than 20 minutes. The Field Officer was polite but very formal and stiff. I had a hard time understanding him as he had a very thick hispanohablante accent (he later mentioned to me whilst chatting that he is from San Salvador, El Salvador)

He told me that he would recommend my application for approval and congratulated me. I asked when I would hear about my oath date. He said I should receive my notice for my oath date by the end of the month.

My online account has updated me that I have an interview scheduled for July 17th in Phoenix AZ office.  I have already made plans for travel with my kids this summer and won't be back before the interview date. I am a Canadian born citizen and in all honesty, I don't have a pressing travel restriction that would require me to obtain my US citizenship as soon as possible. Is there any major drawback if I reschedule my appointment? I called up a L2 officer and she said they would probably reschedule my interview over the next 1-3 months. Any ideas? Thanks, friends!

Did my oath today in Oakland, California. All done! Woop.

There were 1232 people being sworn in from 91 countries at my ceremony today.

There's no drawback, other than the delay in time. I expect they get a lot of requests for reschedules over the summer holidays.

So I guess it's worth a try.. I just don't want to have to wait a super long time or have my application pushed back to the end of the line!

When I went in for my infopass the officer said that the IOE applicants were delayed since the officers processed all NBC applicants as a batch for citizenship and all IOEs as one - given that there were more NBCs and also because of the cumbersome nature of ELIS and it's processing, she mentioned that I would wait at least 90 days or more for my oath. Just a thought.

Time-to-Oath will vary wildly by field office, since some offer same-day oaths and others schedule as far out as 90+ days.  I'd probably recommend that if you want to put off the oath, you tell them but also tell them when you will be available next so they won't reschedule you too soon or in another bit of time when you can't make it.

Anyone else is having this status for a while?

Luaytm

I have the same status (my wife too) since Apr 14 - Oath ceremony will be scheduled.

Mine is IOE case with San Antonio as FO, same as you. My interview was a day after you.

My PD was 8/22/16.

I am based in Austin and I was expecting to get the 6/29 oath , but I don't think that will be the case.

In for a longer wait - not sure why I applied in August - cursing myself. Those who applied in Dec (NBC) are

getting their oath on 6/29.

I had my interview April 13th, and my status did not change until yesterday. I got this message that I am in line for the oath ceremony. I wonder how much longer are we going to wait! It is taking forever :(

Hearing about all these same day oath ceremonies and San Antonio hasn't even scheduled us after 2 months of interview which was approved - this is ridiculous..

Yes, I think we are in for a long wait. If we get oath ceremonies in Austin, the next one is on 9/27 (3 months later). There is one oath ceremony each in San Antonio

during July and August. Since it is already mid-June, we are looking at July 27th or later for oath ceremony. I am going to be out of country by end of July, so might be

more delay for me. I just can't wait for this to be over.

(info from Western District of Texas )

The next three ceremonies in Austin are:

June 17th @ Bob Bullock Museum

June 29th @ Delco Center

September 27th @ Delco Center

The next three ceremonies in San Antonio are:

June 22nd @ Institute of Texan Cultures

July 27th @ Institute of Texan Cultures

Aug 24th Edgewood High School
