Hey guys! I have a question to those who might have the same experience. I have already posted the question in a separate topic but no one paid attention.

I wonder if I can present a short form of translation or selective translation of an additional document. I am not talking about such important documents as BC or Divorce Decrees. I have an internet contract which is on my name but the bank details in the contract is on my husband's name. I would like to use it as an evidence for joint marital relationship but the problem is that the contract is of 12 pages and only about 4 has our data, the rest just irrelevant information such as Terms and Conditions typed with tiny bit font, explanation of different services or ads. Do I still have to translate all the 12 pages? Can I possibly translate only those pages, for example, page 1, 5, 12 that bear important information ?

I found USCIS manual about translations but I think it doesn't answer exactly my question.

Just checked the processing times for my FO ( Santa Ana, CA) and they updated the page today, they are now processing July 28th !!! , I'm just hoping they keep advancing fast to get an interview ASAP !

I got a question in case any one can provide some opinion:

My wife is currently on a OPT from an F1 ( student visa), we've been married for 4+ years and we have waited to submit her petition until I become a US Citizen. Everything was going according to plan, until this whole IOE fiasco happened.  Her OPT expires in June of this year and making numbers if I were to become a citizen by say April and then right away submit her paperwork, we wouldn't be getting a Green Card before the OPT expires. Would her status be an issue at the time since I would be a USC ? Could I do something now that I'm getting closer to becoming a USC ?

Thanks in advance (^_^)/

I don't know how you got your green card, for me it was through marriage, so I'm just going to assume your process was a different one because you're already married and your wife is an alien. I remember when I was going through the process I had a similar question. It had to do with my status, with the time left on my i-94 to be precise, which as a tourist is how long you have legal status for. When we applied for my AOS I remember going through USCIS's website and reading that you have a grace period of up to 6 months, I believe, to have been in the country with no status (expired i-94) and still be able to apply for AOS. Now, based on that and the letter I got when I applied for ROC extending my GC for a year while they processed my application I am almost certain that once you become a citizen and your wife applies for AOS, it'll will put her in the right place. She'll still have status on her student visa for a bit and then will enter the process of AOS, which gives her temporary legal status. The only problem is if she/both of you want to leave the country before she gets her EAD/APC. You should be fine carnal.

I'm not sure if this will be relevant to you. I guess I'm unsure what your process is. The forum is for N400 so I just assume you are seeking to supplement your application or prepare for your interview. Either way this post was of great help to me when I did my ROC. It gave me a close perspective of which documents I should even bother to submit:

This is what that post has to say about utilities:

"Utilities do not verify information before adding someone to an account and hey, it's the electric bill, you are going to pay the electric bill anyway. There is no financial risk involved, no commitment as in joint ownership"

Hope that helps!

yes, I am preparing more evidences to support my case at the interview.

oh yes, utility bills is one of the evidences of joint marital relationship!!!! Believe me. My welcome letter states it. Certainly, there should be other evidences to add to the case.  My question was about translation though. But thanks anyway.

Gotcha. I translated all my personal documents myself (BC, etc) in all my applications and never had a problem. I assume you wouldn't either. I was trying to go a step further and saving you the trouble of submitting a document that might not hold enough weight to warrant submission. What I found useful about that post (don't know of you read it) was that it was all information coming from the director of the VSC, speaking frankly about the documents they are looking for, and the ones that they don't attribute much, if any, weight to.

First, I'm going to tell you the unfortunate news that the latest time frame update is an error: if you check any other offices even including the service centers, you'd see the processing time for all form types have been changed to July 28... Someone called USCIS, and they will correct the webpage early next week.

for your wife, when will her OPT expire? If you can't be naturalized by April, can she extend her OPT based on the STEM students rule? If it can't be extended, she does have a grace period after OPT's expiration, but it's only 60 days--that I know for sure.

Nevertheless, extending her legal status shouldn't be too hard, if she's working on OPT right now, she wouldn't be able to work after the expiration, and getting another EAD based on pending AOS takes time, so she might lose her current job.

Thank you. I have read it. That was good info, I would disagree about utility bills though. In Germany, for example, they are very strict about paying your bills on time and also about internet. The owner is responsible also for unauthorized access to the connection. if someone breaks through and downloads something  from your IP and the IP gets caught, you will receive a huge fine on your name, they might as well take you to the court. The same applies to your family members. If your spouse downloads something through torrent, YOU, the owner of the internet connection will be responsible. So in my case the internet contract is not just a worthless evidence, it shows a joint responsibility. I am trying to take with me any evidence I could think of, in case, what I have won't be enough.

And yeah, I am translating my documents now. Too much anyway!:blink::blink:

Ugh! What a nightmare!

I am sorry I didn't look at prior posts and I've been off visa journey for a while! I feel really daft now reading through.

I am starting to feel like I won't be getting my interview anytime soon now.
