Tomorrow January 11th will be 5 months from my priority date and still no updates from USCIS .... I'll probably start calling them or even going for an InfoPass to my local Field Office in Santa Ana, CA.

Any pointers / advice / suggestions on what should I ask since I'm an IOE filer ?  Should I just ask if I'm " In line for an interview " ??

Thanks!

You can't file a complaint until 6 months after your processing date.  Also, USCIS is now predicting almost 7 months for N400 processing with lengthy delays expected.

@Kamex: I called today (my 5 month were up 2 days ago and I was told 1 month ago to call back) and all they told me was website information* (again): on October 31st, the Hartford office was processing early May filers. I checked and the same is true for Santa Ana, so, adding the time from Oct. 31 to today (2 month) they are probably somewhere in July. -- And indeed, i just found a post in the July forum that one of the Hartford filers is scheduled for an interview.

* I also tried to get to an L2 but the L1 said that even L2 wouldn't be able to tell me anything because N-400 is  processed in the local offices and L2 does not know what they do (well, grain of salt, but ...)

@EastCoast_Guy  Thank you very much for this info ... seems we're on a similar boat... I wish I knew more applicants from my same Field Office.

There's a couple of applicants on the TrackIT Tracker , but only one has updated their status and he is a mid June filer at my same FO, he got the intervie w letter 5 months 5 days after his priority date on 11/18/2016  and the interview was scheduled for 12/28/2016.

I'm just hoping now that I will get some sort of advancement on my case! :-@

As I mentioned, according to USCIS (and even VJ data), N400's are about 6-7 month wait at this point unfortunately.

I think we all are anxious and frustrated, but as ChristianZane points out, this is not a quick process and in a way we all are probably experts in waiting for USCIS responses

regarding finding other filers for your FO, I was contacted by other Hartford filers, and contacted some myself after finding them in the other threads.

I am sure that our time will come, now sooner than later -- and considering that we are at the 5 month mark now, it will be sooner ....

Finished my interview today at Baltimore field office. It was easy and took about 45 minutes. I was recommended for approval. Officer chatted about ELIS causing delays in processing. He mentioned that scheduling of oaths is not working properly in ELIS and will take about 2-3 months or longer for the oath to be scheduled for IOE applicants. An other wait now..

I spoke with an L1 today and was told all the same stuff I already know and can see myself online. I get the sense that they are instructed to demotivate people from calling about the specific inquiries we who read these treads have. A range of questions all related to the same root: "Where am I in the process?" and placate our uncertainties with a blanket statement which has but one neutral tone. That tone says: "There are only so many openings for interviews in a day." Which is smart because it does not allude to anything but the people already in line before you. It makes waiting a more resigned and passive endeavor.

She did say to try and call back in the morning if I wished to speak with an Immigration agent (L2) since they (L1) can only see what we see. So for what it's worth, consider calling as early as possible if you wish to speak to an L2 because they get busier as the hours go by.

Thanks for the update. I called USCIS today as well and I was told that "N 400 processing is pretty much the responsibility of the field office" and to make an Infopass after the 6 month mark.  I am not sure how reliable this information is, but just fyi to everyone. I do plan on doing this in a few weeks if I have not received my interview notice yet.

Hi all,. What is an L1 or L2 agent and how do i speak to an L2? I did call a couple of weeks ago and they said to go by processing times on the USCIS website. I havent heard anything since my biometrics in September. Thanks for any feedback!

An L2 or level two, also known as Immigration agent is like a supervisor. They have access to more info about cases than L1 or level one agents, the people who pick up the phone when you call USCIS. To speak with an L2 you have to escalate your call, by requesting the L1 to transfer you. Depending on the hold time, an automated system might take your number and call you back when an L2 becomes available. You keep your place in line but don't have to hold for hours on your phone.
