I get it, EastCoast_Guy. Our priority date is August 15th. So if Charlotte is also 5 months, our 5 months are up January 15th.

yes, based on what they told me, that is correct. Also, if your service center shows a date and not a number of month, then check when it was updated last and calculate back.

My case status just changed to Testing and Interview Scheduled. I have an NBC* case number though.

Priority date 8/30, fingerprints done 10/4. Field office: Albany, NY.

My wife and I already filed and we got IOE numbers.

Our friends will be eligible to apply late next year, what is the best way to have NBC number instead of IOE so I can advise them?

I put in my N-400 at the beginning of August, I had my biometrics on the 2nd of September. My status on the USCIS websit had not been updated so I called them yesterday morning. I was informed my local office (Denver) were still processing Aprils applications. Looks like a long wait for me :(

Asking to see if you are in line can be done at any time. It's not the same as like, requesting some sort of special attention to your case.

You can also submit on inline inquiry in the "Help" Section in your ELIS account, and they should respond within like a day. if the response is "Your application information has been entered into the system which schedules applicants for interviews...." that usually means that you are in line. The best way to ensure if you are though is to simply call and ask for an L2.

I made my call about 1 month after bio metrics, and was told I am in line. I'm just worried that something changed, as I know of another person who was told they were in line, but called again recently to find out they were still under "investigation" and they ALSO didn't receive the glitch notification.

I, for one, will likely be calling again at some point in the near future.

Hey CCN400,

I had a couple questions in regard to your response here: what is an L2? a Google search came back with a type of visa for dependents, which I assume is not what you mean. Also, what number would I call to ask for it? just the regular USCIS number? I ask just in case there is a dedicated number for it. I've had people transfer me to different departments/given me a different number to call with past steps in the process.

My office is Seattle and I have an August 11th priority date. I went in for an early walk-in biometric appointment on the 18th of August, which puts me around 3 1/2 months since biometrics were done. I am calling to check my status soon. Also, I keep seeing something about a glitch here and there on forums, I googled it and saw something about false approvals, is that what you are referencing? just wondering if there's more than one type affecting N400 vs other applications.

Thank you in advance, and thanks for your post here.

@ Dave: i just checked and I believe they told you what you could have found on their website: on Sept. 30th, 2016, Denver was processing N-400 applications as of April 13. Based on the conversation with the L1 I spoke with yesterday (as well), that means that they are having a processing time of about 5.5 month -- I assume that they have been working since Sept. 30th, so I wouldn't "give up" just yet. :)

  • L2 vs L1 = Level of the person you are speaking with, L1 cannot give you the same information as L2
  • They will ask you for your case #, the one starting with IOE (or NBC) -- you will have to type it into your phone and use numbers for letters
  • I just called the regular help line, took about 3 mins on hold (for L1)
  • Check this website for Seattle processing times: https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do 3.5 month seems to be short (my priority date is 8/9 and the L1 said i should have heard something BY Jan 9th, 2017 -- so in about a month.
  • The glitch is that some applicants get a notification that they have an interview scheduled, but never got the paper version (if i gather it correctly, please revise if not, i didn't get it)

Hope that helps :)

Herrlich! Vielen Dank EastCoast_Guy!

I will try and call right now. I am also writing a message from my ELIS. Hope multiple angles will give me a better perspective of where I am as after the biometrics I feel mostly in the dark about it.

Natuerlich! You are welcome. As of in the dark, I think we all feel like that, so even if you are in the dark, you are not alone

P.S. not sure if they are open today

Looks like you may wanna hold off for a couple of weeks if you're IOE, Natuerlich. No way to know if you were placed back in.

About 15,000 applicants weren't given proper name checks because of ELIS, so they're placing those names back into name check and expediting the name check.
