OK, now I'm confused. If you are an IOE filer, then the so-called online assess code is on one of your first TWO NOAs, and when you sign up with MyUSCIS, you should always receive a 2nd random password via text whenever you attempt to log in--if that's a surprise to you, then you didn't set up what you're supposed to set up when you first get the NOAs.

I sign up when got the NOA and now when I try to login it sends me code via text/email. Nothing is surprising here.

Problem is that when I login don't see my case .... it says no cases available :(

First NOA was sent when they received the case if you ticked on your application to receive it. The second NOA was sent with the code to retrieve your case online. I signed up for the account long before I even filed my n-400. It was an empty account and looked just the same you have now. Creating account doesn't give you access to the case you filed. If you look in your account at the right hand side where ACTIONS are, there is a link that says Code (see Account Acceptance Notice). That's where you should have typed in your Code just once to make your case accessible and It should be in the second NOA that you received if you received any. So I attached my Account Acceptance Notice. It says it is actually Account Access Notice when you look at the Type. If you do all that mentioned above correctly and saw your case before and now you can't, then you need to call them.

Do you finally see the interview appointment notice in your ELIS account?

No, I have not. I am just frustrated. I see that May and June filers are moving now. If I don't get a notice in the next 2 weeks, I plan to get a infopass appointment and ask for an update.

Good to hear at least that May and June are moving.

hey guys! That message about scheduled interviews probably means 'in line' indeed. Someone from the July filters sent a request to the customer service. You can read the answer following this link

Thank you. I am still thinking I will take a trip to Norfolk for my infopass. Who knows it might trigger some action and I might get lucky with a nice officer.

Realistically, I am thinking we are not likely to see any action until December/Jan.

You are probably right. Each step along the way has required great patience. What's one last time? :clock:

Thank you so much for your explanation, I had to reset it now and a new access code will be sent to me soon since the 1st one is valid for 30 days

Hi

How do you reset it? How is the new access code sent to you?

I also have not accessed the online account since I received the NOA, I had no idea about this option....(also my attorney has not mentioned anything about this and she is so un aware of anything that I would not ask her for any info..), as for now, is it recommended to create/access an online account? is there any benefit to having this account? I see from reading many posts here that there is a big mess with getting notifications etc on the elis online account and just not sure now if to ask for a new code for the online account or just to sit and wait untill the hard copy letter arrives.....BTW I am an IOE case number and an August filler from SF field office. I DID create an account but it is "empty" , no cases to see there..and I never knew why untill now when I first heard about this access code!! so I am glad at least that mystery has been explained) Thanks!!

Hi! The only benefit of having this account is if they post new messages or electronic enotices, you will see them faster than your hard copy arrives. The mess you mentioned that has been discussed by the vj members is not about accounts as such, it is about IOE filers who belong to the ELIS system and if you are one of them, you are in the same boat whether you have this account or not. (IOE number represents ELIS) In fact you do have it and your case is there, you just can't see it because you don't have the access code to it. You need to call the customer support and maybe they will send you a new code. Also,If you tick to create an account on your application, they send you NOA with instructions how to create the account with the access code. Read your NOA, if there is no instruction that says it, then it is a different NOA. I hope your attorney is competent as I am very surprised she knew nothing about this option.

OK, let me correct myself since 'edit' is not available any longer. You don't tick it on your application, but if you go to n-400, number 6 says "USCIS online account number (if any)". If you already have other cases you are supposed to have the number, if you don't, you leave the window empty and they send you the instruction with the code.

Here is how my instruction looks.

Hi!! thank you for your quick reply! much appreciated:) I am IOE / Elis as well, I looked at my NOA and there is NO information about access code for online...I am attaching a pic of my NOA.

I will call support since I also want to know what my status is...(like others here, on the "check status uscis" page it still says "biometrics appointment scheduled"...which is out dated since I already HAD my biometrics on August 26.....

You should have received the second NOA. I had two. First said that they accepted the case with the code to check online, they way you check and the second one that I posted online. Do all your notices come to you directly or to your attorney first? Also, which form did you file? There was an old form that was accepted until the middle of AUG if I am not mistaken and new form was also already available. Maybe that is a problem? I am not sure.

Here is what it says on the official website

3. Create a USCIS online account for N-400 Applications

Beginning April 13, customers who submit the revised Form N-400, Application for Naturalization (dated March 26, 2016) may be invited to create a USCIS online account to track and manage their case online depending on how their form is processed.

If you submit the revised Form N-400, you may receive a USCIS Account Acceptance Notice in the mail with instructions on how to create a USCIS online account. USCIS will continue processing your application even if you choose not to access your online account. USCIS also will continue to send you copies of notifications about your case by mail through the U.S. Postal Service.

Having a USCIS online account allows you to:

  • Check the status of your case;
  • Receive notifications and case updates;
  • Respond to requests for evidence; and
  • Manage your contact information online, including updating your address.

If you are an attorney or accredited representative, you can also create a USCIS online account, which will allow you to manage all of your clients’ Form N-400 applications in one place.

it also says that:

Edition Date

09/29/16. Starting 12/1/16, USCIS will only accept the 09/29/16 and 03/26/16 editions. Until then, you can use the 09/13/13 edition.

it is interesting they prolonged that edition date. Before it was until the mid of AUG if I am not mistaken
