Hi there:) I am in Bradenton and they sent me to Tampa for the field office. I guess we are doing the waiting game now. My fingerprint appointment was kind of a nightmare. So many people and they were quiet slow that day ?But it's all done now ?

OK after receiving NOA on Sep. 7, I see online that my fingerprinting appointment has been mailed! I will have to wait to receive the hard copy to know the date and location! I'm near Sarasota, Florida, and online the field offices show both Tampa and Fort Myers for offices.

Hello August filers,

I received my NOA that my application was received on Sept. 7. I still have had no further notice regarding a biometrics date. I am in Florida, through the texas lockbox. It appears to me people are getting notice of a fingerprinting date quite soon after their NOA. What is everyone getting? Do some people not get the biometrics appointment at all? I am filing as married and over 3 years. Thank you!

I did some googling on the IOE vs NBC and stumbled upon this thread, its very active and for what I read the consensus seems to be that NBC numbers were given to the OLD form applicants being processed on the old system and that the IOE numbers belong the the new system, I believed its named ELIS and there seems to be a hold up on the processing of the IOE cases ( as some have noticed ) , thus expediting the NBC cases and many of them becoming " In line for interview " very quickly after the Biometrics were taken.

BTW among the last entries an IOE filer from April , finally got their " In line Interview " message ... hope is all we can have now

Thanks for the info, Kamex009. Interesting. Also, I read in the June filers that IOE's don't get an Inline Date... maybe that is why they are not being received? We'll just have to wait and see.

Excited to say that my Biometrics Appointment is set for the 15th of Septemeber!

My biometric was on 09.14.2016 and untill today it did not change to in line for interview. Is this normal? Edited by Luaytm

If your case number starts with IOE, then you'll never receive the "in line for interview" update; instead, you'll directly receive the "interview scheduled" update once your local field office has scheduled you for an interview.

Only cases with NBC numbers will receive "in line for interview" update, and it basically means your background check with the FBI is cleared. That timeframe is different for everybody, but just FYI, from what I've seen on multiple websites, not every applicant from a muslim country experience a long background check, but when someone does experience it, he or she is normally of muslim backgrounds... (Some people observe that it depends on whether the applicant's name is common or not.)

I just want to say that I was born in an Arab country and my name is like the Jane Smith of South India. I was really nervous USCIS would take forever to look through my papers because of these two reasons. I don't want to jinx anything by speaking too soon...

For some people it takes longer just because the search hits the same or similar name and then the further investigation requires manual work to request the papers from that particular agency and review them.

I sent both their applications at the same time but for some reason Dad's was delayed as he just had his biometrics done yesterday 9/23. I am adding my username with Mom's dates for best case scenario. Good Luck to all future Americans here!

02/06/14 - NVC received our case file.
03/13/14 - Case number, IIN and BIN assigned
03/17/14 - DS-261 completed. Email Confirmation received
03/18/14 - Received email to pay AOS fee. Invoiced and paid (in process)
03/19/14 - Requested NVC to "join" wife's and daughter's cases
03/20/14 - AOS status "PAID" for wife
03/26/14 - AOS status "PAID" for daughter
03/26/14 - AOS packets sent
03/28/14 - IV available and paid for both wife and daughter (in process)
04/01/14 - IV shows "PAID", DS-260 available
04/05/14 - DS-260 complete and submitted
04/07/14 - Civil docs arrived via DHL from my wife. IV packets sent (Finally!!)

05/07/14 - NVC shipped case files to Lima Embassy via DHL. CEAC status "In transit"

05/09/14 - DHL delivered case files to Embassy. CEAC status "Ready"

It has to be NBC; first it's way too fast for IOE; second they have an "in line for interview" date--IOE filers don't get that but "interview scheduled" directly from "biometric appointment scheduled."

Do you mind telling us if your parents cases start with either IOE or NBC?
