Could someone kindly tell how the hell to use the "Access Code" on the NOA? I mean, I always KNOW how to check the status of a case online the old-fashioned way with a receipt number, but I heard people here say that if I follow the instructions on the NOA to create a new MyUSCIS account, I can also download PDFs of the letter they've sent to me.

Nevertheless, I followed the instructions and created an account, but there's no "Actions" for me to click to enter the Access Code. It almost seems that the instruction is for an older version of the website...

When you are in your account, at the right hand side there should be a line that says "Enter Your Online Access Code (See Account Acceptance Notice)". Do you have it?

No, after I set up my account, it took me to the home page of MyUSCIS (the skyline of NYC as the background) which looks as if I hadn't filed any application yet...

I wonder if it's because I didn't file G-1145 with my N-400, so the "online account" they set up for me with the access code isn't actually retrievable?

When you are in your account, at the right hand side there should be a line that says "Enter Your Online Access Code (See Account Acceptance Notice)". Do you have it?

OK, I used a spare e-mail address and tried again on Firefox and it worked! Too bad I wasted my primary e-mail address on Safari...

OK, I used a spare e-mail address and tried again on Firefox and it worked! Too bad I wasted my primary e-mail address on Safari...

Oh great! I was just typing an answer to you to show how my account look. You didn't have to use a different e-mail address, just a different browser would make it work. I remember I read somewhere that it would work only on Firefox and Chrome

I applied for Asylum in January 2013, for which I went through a Biometric Appointment of course. My case was approved in late May that year, and right away in June, DoMA was struck down by the Supreme Court, so same sex marriage officially started to qualify for immigration benefits. I got married with my partner, and we applied for Adjustment of Status in August, 2013 based on marriage without waiting for that one year based on Asylum. For my I-485, the Biometric Appointment step was skipped. Later on, I found out our biometric data is normally good for 15 months with USCIS before they have to re-capture it.

Therefore, I was surprised that people, who's applying for naturalization based on the 3-year marriage rule, still have to do the Biometric Appointment since we already did it within the past 15 months for the Removal of Condition, but does it at least mean our name check with the FBI might be quicker this time?
