Shami are you still waiting to hear something? Have you received any emails or anything? I can't imagine waiting that long without any word! This is going to drive me crazy.

Lucy N Bebe, we have gotten RFE's. They are both related to the sponsor I-864. My wife did meet the salary requirement of $18,000, but they said we needed a joint sponsor. So, now her parents are the joint sponsor. It seems like they are just dragging our case. We were considering writing to our congressman if they drag this on much longer. We wish USCIS would just come to our house and make inspection visits if they are suspicious.

I am sorry you had to go through this. I also felt the same way after my interview. The officer was so cold right from the start, and talked down to us like we were nobodys. I don't know what pissed her off about us, maybe 'cos we're an interracial couple, or she just doesn't like people from my country. I've no idea. At that point, I was desperately wishing my husband was a lawyer, so we could sue her butt or something. Too bad I don't remember her name. She didn't even take out the I-94 from my passport.

It's very frustrating 'cos we can't do anything about it. You would think the US, with all its technology and such, would do things more efficiently than developing countries. Very sad... :(

This makes me wonder...maybe everyone should start taking minicassette recorders to their interviews? You can easily keep one in a hangbag or pocket--unless you have to go through a metal detector, which I don't remember from biometrics. If I had a hellish interview, I would feel much better knowing that the AO's impropriety was caught on a recording within my possesion.

K1 Journey:

2/07/06 I-129F sent

2/13/06 NOA1

2/28/06 NOA2

5/12/06 Boris's interview in Moscow

5/19/06 Visa in hand!

5/22/06 Boris arrives in Washington D.C.

8/06/06 MARRIED!!!

AOS Journey:

11/28/06 AOS, AP, and EAD mailed

12/04/06 NOA1 for all applications

12/07/06 All applications touched

12/09/06 Biometrics appointment letter received

12/11/06 All applications touched

12/13/06 EAD & AP touched

12/15/06 Biometrics in Norfolk, VA (very simple, took 30 min.)

2/01/07 FBI info line confirms biometrics were received and returned 12/15

2/07/07 EAD and AP touched, AP approved

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to tape a conversation without consent in some states.

SC, I notice that you were approved pending FBI namecheck. The AO was correct in not removing the I94 from your passport. That's usually only done if your greencard is imminent.

I sure hope that is true! I want to believe that everything was actually in order during our interview and our AO was only giving us a hard time. Like I said earlier, she did remove the I94 from his passport.

I know of one other member whose husband is also in namecheck. Their AO was also rude (not to the extent of Lucy's). Her husband's I94 was removed despite the namecheck.

I have to say that I do not know what the policy is on removal of the document. Common sense tells me it may be one of those procedures that vary from office to office, such as the inconsistency of placing the I551 stamp in the passport of those whose greencard is imminent.

It is my belief that the I94 is an important piece of physical proof of the immigrants legal entry into the country. My husband still has his in his passport and (given the fact that his adjustment seems to be far off) I like it that way. The date of the I94 corresponds to immigration records of his K1 entry, which also show no other entries since that date.

I don't know if the removal of the I94 should be protested if the AO will not state that the greencard is approved and on its way to the petitioner. All I know is that I would have questioned it had our officer attempted to remove the document from my husband's passport.

donnaal, most posters here report the I94 remains in the passport if they are informed at interview of the remaining pendency of the namecheck.

As I mentioned in my follow up comments, I have read of the document being removed. I personally do not feel it should be. My opinion may be unfounded.

Today we had our interview. It was scheduled for 2:40. We waited until 4:00 to be let in. The CO who called us in was obviously in a foul mood. She walked us in and went through the formality of swearing us in. She then looked through our file and pointed out a picture I had originally sent in with K1. She said it was "shocking" because I was sitting with a low-cut tanki top. She stated that what ever possessed me to send in that photo. I told her I applogized if she found it offensive. After that she pointed out that the photos were only of him and I and no family members were present. I told her we were in his home town and that my family was not with me. I told her I brought some more photos where my family was present. She wasn't even interested in looking at them. Later she asked me for 2006 taxes, bank statements, etc. I gave her what she asked. She later said that she would have us come back cause she was in a bad mood. After looking through our file again, she asked if he had ever been illegal here. We both answered no and she proceeded to reprimand me for talking for him. She told me to be quiet and to speak only when asked something directly. She asked me about prior marriages and children. I told her I had three. She asked how they felt about their new stepfather. I told her they were coming around. She said she couldn't beleive that they would be ok with him. Later she made the comment that her husband worked for a school too and that they would never agree to a relationship where the man was younger to the woman. She asked him if he had ever socialized with my coworkers, when he said yes, she was amazed. She said her husbnad would never approve of such a relationship of a coworker.

She ended the interview by saying that she was in a bad mood, that we weren't even her case, that someone called in sick and that she was tired and wanting to go home. She said she would send her answer to us later and that we will recieve a letter stating her decision. I asked her point blank if we were denied. She said she wasn't making a decision yet and that if she did, we wouldn't like it. As she escorted us out the door, she said that FBI name check wasn't done yet. She never looked at anything. She just said that only my husband knew if there was anything negative and that he could tell me anything that wasn't necessarily true:angry:

I am so frustrated I don't know what to think of this person. Has anyone had a similar experience?

So sorry for all that. I would report her as well, if denied.

Wonder why they require interviews sometimes and not others. Jomo and I received AOS without any interview at all. Paperwork, biometrics, and then the card in the mail.

I doubt it. It many states it is illegal to tape record or videotape someone without their consent. Not sure if an officer would consent to being recorded. The device may not even get past initial security checks when you first come into the building.

But I can definitely see why someone would want to tape it!

I don't think that you need consent from a government worker. And, it would only be used to ensure quality, unbiased workmanship. I will try for sure to bring one in. If anything they would have to give a reason to oppose it.
