Today we had our interview. It was scheduled for 2:40. We waited until 4:00 to be let in. The CO who called us in was obviously in a foul mood. She walked us in and went through the formality of swearing us in. She then looked through our file and pointed out a picture I had originally sent in with K1. She said it was "shocking" because I was sitting with a low-cut tanki top. She stated that what ever possessed me to send in that photo. I told her I applogized if she found it offensive. After that she pointed out that the photos were only of him and I and no family members were present. I told her we were in his home town and that my family was not with me. I told her I brought some more photos where my family was present. She wasn't even interested in looking at them. Later she asked me for 2006 taxes, bank statements, etc. I gave her what she asked. She later said that she would have us come back cause she was in a bad mood. After looking through our file again, she asked if he had ever been illegal here. We both answered no and she proceeded to reprimand me for talking for him. She told me to be quiet and to speak only when asked something directly. She asked me about prior marriages and children. I told her I had three. She asked how they felt about their new stepfather. I told her they were coming around. She said she couldn't beleive that they would be ok with him. Later she made the comment that her husband worked for a school too and that they would never agree to a relationship where the man was younger to the woman. She asked him if he had ever socialized with my coworkers, when he said yes, she was amazed. She said her husbnad would never approve of such a relationship of a coworker.

She ended the interview by saying that she was in a bad mood, that we weren't even her case, that someone called in sick and that she was tired and wanting to go home. She said she would send her answer to us later and that we will recieve a letter stating her decision. I asked her point blank if we were denied. She said she wasn't making a decision yet and that if she did, we wouldn't like it. As she escorted us out the door, she said that FBI name check wasn't done yet. She never looked at anything. She just said that only my husband knew if there was anything negative and that he could tell me anything that wasn't necessarily true:angry:

I am so frustrated I don't know what to think of this person. Has anyone had a similar experience?

WOW.....it is a really scary experience. Sorry that this happened to you guys. No wonder people are SO relieved when they get approved without interview.....so I am...need to keep my finger crossed that things won't be changed!

Tsk tsk tsk. That's beyond shameful. She degraded you personally, and she made insulting comments about your lifestyle. It also sounds to me like she had a problem with your husband's country of origin.

She needs reported. She abused the power she has. Send a letter to the supervisor of your Service Center. I wouldn't waste a stamp on sending a complaint to her immediate supervisor at the District Office you interviewed at.

That is, excuse me, f***ing ridiculous. If I were you, I would report that sh!t immediately to someone higher up than her. I don't care WHAT your profession is, NO WAY do you have the right to come in and say "I'm in a bad mood" and act all difficult. Especially when in a situation that could change someone's life. OMG, that makes me incredibly mad. So unprofessional. She should be fired or sent to a psychologist or something. Or both. USCIS officers are not supposed to act that way. They are supposed to be professional and able to work with the public in a respectful way. I was actually just reading that the other day in a job description for an officer.

Like I said, I would report her. She can't be the final word. No reason to be treated that way.

Did she record the interview??? I bet not. Ours was recorded with a video camera.

Take care, both of you, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I hope you don't take anything she said to heart. There is nothing wrong with wearing a tank top for God's sake. She was probably just jealous. She sounds like a total prude and a total b!tch.

It also sounds to me like she had a problem with your husband's country of origin.

Yes, thank you. I forgot to mention that bit. I wholeheartedly agree.

after looking at your timeline, i just wanted to add that it does not seem uncommon anymore for those with REALLY quick interviews to get hung up in namechecks for a little while, and your interview date was one of the shortest from NOA1 i have seen.

and while my immediate reaction would be to report her, im not so sure i would be so quick to do it just yet... she still supposedly has your file in hand pending a decision. :(

The funny was that she did say everything was being recorded and could be held against you in a court of law, yada, yada, yada, but at the end when she made those comments, she said that part had not been recorded. I saw a camcorder leaning against a wall in her office that was not set up so I don't know where the recording was actually being made. I thought if must have been a magic button that she had that she could press on and off! She immediately said that of course her comments as she was asking us to leave were not being recorded...how convenient.

see - i have ABSOLUTELY noooooo problem being recorded. Otherwise its a government official's word against yours.

USCIS is just a notoriously bad at providing information, obviously treatment, etc. these people should be recorded and these are people's lives they are dealing with. One false claim by an officer and things can change pretty dramatically.

Wow...that is...just...unbelievable!!

Honestly.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that and I do wish that it will turn out ok for you. I would be reporting her too.

What other job in the workd could you go in to a room and say your in a bad mood and it just be accepted? It wouldn't and thats just awful.

Maybe something in her bi-polar brain told her she had gone too far, when she said that - to discourage you from reporting her. I remember in the consulate that nice little sign on the wall saying" we pledge to serve all customers with dignity and respect etc etc...." Do they not have those once in the states?? I agree with the others, find some way of reporting her to an appropriate source. Maybe that tape can be pulled!

We all go through enough without this rubbish.

You must write to your congressman and to the head of the local office where the interview took place. You need to do this before you see a decision. This will give you basis to request a review if you are denied.

Pfeh. I don't think there's a chance of a denial here. The woman knows her behavior would be reported.

AT THE VERY LEAST - while this is fresh in your brain - I would right down a detailed account of what happened. One account in your words and one in your husbands. I would date it and sign it and file it away in case I needed it - which I don't think you will.

Power mad hag. Her ### would be mine if she had interviewed me.

Agreed.

And the fact that she said her rude comments were not recorded shows she knows she was in the wrong. She needs to learn a lesson. No way can she deny a case based on a bad mood. That's laughable. And anger-inducing. I bet her co-workers just love her (sarcasm.) Hah!
