Today we had our interview. It was scheduled for 2:40. We waited until 4:00 to be let in. The CO who called us in was obviously in a foul mood. She walked us in and went through the formality of swearing us in. She then looked through our file and pointed out a picture I had originally sent in with K1. She said it was "shocking" because I was sitting with a low-cut tanki top. She stated that what ever possessed me to send in that photo. I told her I applogized if she found it offensive. After that she pointed out that the photos were only of him and I and no family members were present. I told her we were in his home town and that my family was not with me. I told her I brought some more photos where my family was present. She wasn't even interested in looking at them. Later she asked me for 2006 taxes, bank statements, etc. I gave her what she asked. She later said that she would have us come back cause she was in a bad mood. After looking through our file again, she asked if he had ever been illegal here. We both answered no and she proceeded to reprimand me for talking for him. She told me to be quiet and to speak only when asked something directly. She asked me about prior marriages and children. I told her I had three. She asked how they felt about their new stepfather. I told her they were coming around. She said she couldn't beleive that they would be ok with him. Later she made the comment that her husband worked for a school too and that they would never agree to a relationship where the man was younger to the woman. She asked him if he had ever socialized with my coworkers, when he said yes, she was amazed. She said her husbnad would never approve of such a relationship of a coworker.

She ended the interview by saying that she was in a bad mood, that we weren't even her case, that someone called in sick and that she was tired and wanting to go home. She said she would send her answer to us later and that we will recieve a letter stating her decision. I asked her point blank if we were denied. She said she wasn't making a decision yet and that if she did, we wouldn't like it. As she escorted us out the door, she said that FBI name check wasn't done yet. She never looked at anything. She just said that only my husband knew if there was anything negative and that he could tell me anything that wasn't necessarily true:angry:

I am so frustrated I don't know what to think of this person. Has anyone had a similar experience?

My interviewer was a bit of a b1tch, but it sounds like your one had some real personal issues. Very unprofessional. Sorry to hear that you had such a bad time.

BTW - what's wrong with socialising with co-workers??

What a b--ch!!!!

She should have learned that bringing her personal issues and her bad mood to her workplace is not okay. If she worked in retail, she would have got kicked out the same day she got hired!

Lucy N Bebe, I think you will be fine, I am very sorry you had to go through this nightmare of an interview. Unbelievable.

I am so sorry to hear of your experience and I am just as shocked as you to have read it! I would say that there is no reason whatsoever for this woman to treat you two this way and if it were me, I would report her! This worries me greatly seeing that Marlon is black and I am white and I would not want to get this lady! Report her, report her, report her! She has no right to belittle you or to make comments like she did!

Here's hoping for a quick approval though! (F)

Thank you all for the comforting words. As you can imagine, I am still fuming. My husband and I are so heartbroken. I can't think of any reason for denial either. I have submitted everything they have ever requested. Could there be other grounds?

We had a very similar experience in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our interviewer became suspicious from the beginning. He interviewed us together, then separately, then called me in for another separate interview. He was obviously trying to get us trapped in our answers because he was asking us specific dates of when we saw each other, talked on the phone, etc. His first question was how did you know he was the one for you since you only knew each other a short time. This began his suspicion. Also, our wedding was simple (i didn't even where a white dress) and we didn't have a professional photographer so I put the wedding album together and he criticized it saying " when did you put this together?" In the end, we asked whether it was aproved, he said " I have to do some security checks, you'll be notified by mail. I have lived in US legally for 10 years, paying taxes all ten years. Never committed a crime. Entered the country legally, too. So, what security check is he talking about? He didn't even ask about important things like our documents. He asked stupid questions like did our church help arrange our marriage. We are extremely bothered, but in the end our relationship is on the up and up, nothing to hide. We married for love, so we figure there is no way they can deny. My wife is a US citizen and has all the rights therein to go to congressmen and such.

To the OP. . . absolutely not necessary. I'm sure you would have rather had the interview cancelled because of the sick agent on your case then have to talk to the bad mooded person, who literally tells you this  !! Not normal at all - for anyone to act that way. I hope you hear something soon. And if not, I would make an infopass appt to further get your case back on track.

To Shami. . . make an infopass to see what the situation is now. It has been a long enough wait, especially considering your treatment at your interview.

Good luck!

Well that was a bad experience for you. Maybe you should consider reporting her, although that might not really accomplish much, a lot will depend office type politics.

You might want to make an info in a few weeks to make sure all is going well. It sounded as if your FBI check wasn't cleared yet, so that could delay things.

oh gosh what a terrible situation. she seemed to be taking out her frustration on you! I am so sorry you had to endure this kinds of remarks. I have heard of other cases where they wouldnt give an approval or denial at the end of the interview (even most namecheckers receive some sort of *all looks fine except...), so normally I would say don't worry... but the tone of this employee :(

again I am so sorry, and I hope your namecheck comes back soon and this gets resolved shortly. (who knows, maybe she never checked on the status of the namecheck and you will be done sooner rather than later!)
