Hi everyone.

First post. My wife (Indian) and I just submitted my I-130 for her at the New Delhi USCIS on 27 July 2016. We've been living in India for the last two and a half years, but we met and got married in the UK during grad school. I haven't lived in the US since 2010 but we've visited my family 4 or 5 times since then on her tourist visa. We decided to finally pull the trigger and make a move to settle in the US. I've researched the process on and off over the years so hopefully there won't be too many surprises.

Not sure what to expect in terms of timelines. The New Delhi USCIS says processing time for I-130s is less than a month currently but I assume that's just the time for them to send the results to us.

Starting to prepare documents now, slight hassle as my wife as lived previously in Singapore and the UK so that's 3 total police certificates needed, and the Singapore one is especially annoying as we have to wait until the checklist is generated showing her need to request the certificate before we can apply for it!

Finally I believe I will need to have a joint sponsor for AOS as I will be looking for a new job once we move to US, on top of having to prove domicile. Probably have one of my parents be the joint sponsor.

I'll update this thread and my timeline as our case progresses.

Thanks!

*Update*

Received a very quick response on my petition, received email with case number and requesting final processing and interview etc on Friday 5 Aug 2016.

Starting collection of documents and the current hurdle is requesting the Police Clearance Certificate from Singapore. Singapore requires proof of the applicant requiring the certificate. From the Singapore reciprocity page at https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/fees/reciprocity-by-country/SN.html:

For all applicants, a form letter from the requesting/processing office (NVC, KCC, Embassy, employer etc.) is required to obtain a Certificate of Clearance (COC). Such letter should specify the need for the clearance and state explicitly that "a statutory declaration of no criminal conviction by the applicant is not acceptable as evidence that he/she does not have criminal convictions". The COC will be sent directly to the requesting/processing office.

Because we're applying DCF and bypassing the National Visa Center I need to put in a request to the US Embassy for such a letter. After 3 emails and 2 support calls to the US Travel Docs - India team I think they have understood what I need. Let's see.

Hi!

So glad to see your post with regards to your DCF at New Delhi. We are in a similar situation. My wife and I have been married for 2 years and are looking to settle in the US, so we are going to file for an IR1. We currently live in Bangalore. I am a US citizen, she is an Indian Citizen.

Can you please share any update on how this DCF process is going? How long did it take to complete the USCIC process through New Delhi and then how long before they issued the interview for the Visa at the embassy? Do you have to go through the National Visa Center for the Visa/Green Card or is this done at the New Delhi Embassy itself?

Any light you could shed on your experience and timeline of the process would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi!,

Any update on your DCF process through New Delhi? How long does it take till the interview and then the visa is issued for your spouse? I am in a similae situation and was wondering how your experience went.

Thanks

Hello there, Hope the process is going well for you.

Could you kindly indicate , what all documents you were required to produce other than the police clearance certificate?

also, in what condition were the documents required, ie self attested, attested by notary? etc.

Best wishes
