Yes, we have to wait for the Packet 3 then the Packet 4. But I heard that they do email both the applicant and the petitioner of the appointment date. Packet 3 is more of a must-have than the Packet 4.

Thank you. I think you will get a status change soon. I have a feeling.

Can we schedule interview already or do we need to receive packet 3 first?

Hi! Yes, praise the Lord! I went all gaga last night wondering what happened to our case but it's here too! I feel bad for embarrassing God. :-(

Anyway, yes, it's here!

The embassy schedules the interview once they have processed the papers that we have sent them. They send us the Packet 3, we send them back the papers required, they process it, then they schedule the interview for us.

Isn't the next step sending in P3, then they inform you of interview schedule?

That's right!

Thank you...and I will keep you updated. I'm sure yours will come soon. Good luck!!

That's great news! Congratulations...

Yes, thanks a lot!

Ours is also here now! God bless to all of us! Waiting for Packet 3 here now.

I am confused. My lawyer in thailand said packet 3 doesnt matter and since the ceac case status shows ready we just wait for them to assign an interview date. I am looking on ceac and it clearly states an interview date will be provided by the embassy in thailand without the need to provide any further documentation.

Other reports on here are saying paperwork needs to be filled out and submitted for an interview date?

Oh okay. I am sorry for the confusion. I have been reading and rereading stuff regarding this K1 visa process here in Thailand it specifically says that the Embassy will contact the applicant regarding the Packet 3 and 4 and the interview date.

Here's a link to their site: https://th.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/fiance-k-1-visas/

May you find this link helpful. I believe that the Packet 3 is on the way. God bless!

Hi! I am so sorry again regarding the confusion. Guess what I found out today? The Embassy said we can submit the Packet 3 Documents if we're ready but then they reminded that missing documents will cause delay in the visa process. I am just taking my time here and making sure that I have everything ready. Have you sent your documents yet?

No i havent. We are going to bring documents to the interview as advised by my lawyer. I am just waiting for the interview date so that we can schedule the medical.

Anyone know how long it takes for the consulate to issue an interview date after the case is in ready status?

I believe the way it works is like this: we respond to Packet 3 and the CO reviews what we submit. Then the Embassy sends an email regarding Packet 4, which includes the interview date and time. Several people on VJ have recommended to me that we don't have to wait to receive Packet 3 from the Embassy before we send in our documents. We can apparently do that at any point we are ready. Some people have said they never received Packet 3 (due to Post Office).

So just to be sure if packet 3 is not submitted the consulate will still give you an interview date am I correct? That is also what it says when i check my case on the CEAC website. My lawyer in bangkok also does K1 visas all the time and hes telling me that we dont have to submit packet 3 paperwork and the interview date will automatically be assigned. Im just reading everyone else submitting p3 paperwork so im starting to get conflicting information.

what your lawyer is saying is completely different from everything I've been told...but I'm no expert! So I hope someone else will be able to offer an opinion. But I wrote to the Embassy last evening and had this reply this morning, which supports my earlier posting:

Dear Petitioner:

You fiancée’s Visa application is being transferred to our unit and is undergoing the initializing process. Once finished, we will mail the packet 3 instructions letter to the applicant’s mailing address.

While waiting for the package to arrive, the instructions can also be accessed on our website at: Packet 3 Instructions for K Visas (English | Thai)

The applicant must submit all required documents to the embassy by mail. Once received here, we will schedule an interview's appointment and the applicant will be notified of that and the next step of visa's application process.

Regards,

Immigrant Visa Unit

U.S. Embassy Bangkok
