I met my fiance the beginning of summer while visiting Jamaica. We instantly hit it off...talk day and night with on phone, texting apps, or through video call. I visited him again last week and we decided we wanted to tie the knot in the states? We have pictures together and a healthy log of our conversation. Is 2 months considered too soon to USCIS to become engage?

I Googled what will be needed to start the K1 prpcess and because a computer/printer was unavailable we wrote out a statement of intent to marry on regular line paper and we both signed it (we didn't have separate letters)...anyone know if that'll do?

Also...I havery read conflicting information on if his live signature is required for the G325...if it is not required right now, do I just type his name in applicant field?

Thanks for any assistance.

You'll need two different letters. You also both need the G-325A. You can type up the letter of intent to marry and email it to him, he can print and sign the G-325A and intent to marry and scan them back to you.

If you haven't read the guides yet, I suggest you do that. Everything you need to know to send the petition is there.

2 months is pretty quick so you might need a few more visits and lots of evidence but the only requirement to file the petition is that you've met in the last 2 years and you're free to marry.

USCIS only cares about the formalities, which you will meet by being free to marry and having met in person within the last two years. However, the embassy will be more strict. Their job is to determine whether your relationship is genuine, and not entered into solely for immigration benefits. Read up on the Jamaica sub-forum to learn about the difficulty of passing a K1 interview in this country.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

Thanks for the responses. Please believe I have done research...as researching has become nearly addictive. I've read so many conflicting statements on the G-325 and rather or not he needed to sign before filing or if he could sign at Consulate.

I know we met the requirement in meeting as I physically been to Jamaica 2x and plan at least 2 more trips before he will have an interview. I was hoping those visits, along with numerous pages of call logs and chats would suffice. I read the reviews and info on Jamaica's embassy and I personally think we have a good chance since it is real...was just looking for insight from others. Thanks!

2 months (8 weeks) is a bit short to know someone well enough to intent to marry. I would wait a few more month, get another visit in

and then file. Lots of guys combing the beaches looking for vulnerable women, tell them what they want to hear for a GC and the

consulate knows this. 2 months is just too short for Jamaica in my opinion and waiting longer increases your chance to be approved.

I'm with Ebunoluwa. What is the rush?! Of course, everyone seems wonderful and amazing in the first few months. Jamaica is one of the country's known for men seeking single woman travelers and Ebunoluwa is 100% right. They will tell you anything you want to hear. Please slow down. Get to know him. How many actual face to face days have you spent together? Have you stayed with him or in a hotel? Have you met his friends and family? Spent time with them?

I'm not trying to be negative or rain on your parade. But you said you've done alot of research. This should be part of your research. There are hundreds of horror stories. Please take heed. Please read my friend Angie's story. They talked day and night 24/7. She visited many times. All the while he had a JA gf.

Thanks for the response. I get that two months is too soon but I've had experiences way more horrible than your friend with American men that I've known for years. So is there really a right amount of time? perhaps 2 months is too soon; thus me posing the question. He's not pressing the issue of coming to the States as much as I am I want to spend time with him state-side to know if this is really what I want. He hasn't asked me for anything and in fact has wired me moneyes. 15 days face to face with a week of it being in his house, in his village where I met all of his immediate family. The same house he's in when we talk day and night on Imo.

If he is not pressing you to come to USA then it won't hurt to slow down. There are alot of things about a person that it takes time to know. Wiring you money so soon may not look so good to consulate. Not saying your relationship cannot be real. Just would really concern me as marriage and petitioning someone to USA is a serious endeavor with real consequences. Whatever you decide, good luck!

I took all documents to JA for his original signature. I've heard of some getting RFE for original signatures. Some got through no problem. You won't find a definite clear cut answer. Haven't really heard of a joint letter of intent to marry, depends on how its worded, I guess. As someone else said, the guides and example forms tabs have all the info you need. Use a PC for easier access.

You should have two separate letters of intent to marry.

He needs to sign the G325a, but could send you a scanned version by email (they've been accepting "not wet signatures" for this document for a while).

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

While technically we met (online)** in 2014, we only started dating in Dec 2015 and met for the first time March 2016. We got engaged May 2016, on our second visit with each other. This didn't negatively impact our visa application at all- we were approved. We haven't gone through the interview yet but i highly doubt our being declined for this reason. The differences in country may account for something though, so i definitely do recommend checking out the regional discussion for Jamaica forum.

Just thought you might like the perspective of someone who is similar in timeline to you :) we always like to say "its too soon to know" to ourselves and everyone else until we actually meet "the one". Good luck and safe journey to you both
