I am requesting to change consulate and just completed my DS260 should I wait for the result of my request to submit the DS260? Anyone who had experience a similar case?

Can anyone tell me if the Acceptance letter tells you to do anything or is it the NVC letter that's important?

We got online approval on 4 August but still no snail mail. Trying to decide if it's worth chasing up or just wait for NVC letter?

its the NVC letter that gives you your case number and IINV to proceed with the next step. You can call them after 2 weeks from the day of acceptance for your Case Number. I got mine through phone in like 16 days after they have received it.

The W2 is considered tax document. So hopefully you're lucky like the rest that got case complete checklist and ask to bring it to the interview.

If you mail the tax docs. make sure to use the AOS barcoded cover sheet and yes it will create a new scan date and a wait another 6 weeks.

I believe if you didn't work in 2015 you would have to write a note explaining the reason why you didn't file taxes. That might trigger a checklist.

@MrsBurg - Ok, got it.I hope so too. I did file 2015 tax return to get my education credit but I filed as single instead of married. Is that a cause for concern? I did not know how to go about filing married since this is my first time.

File an amendment. Mostly CO's don't look at that. But i was freaking out so made an amendment and took a copy to the interview but it never came up. So be safe. All the best.

Please send a copy of this applicant's original marriage certificate or a copy of the certified marriage

document.

Documents must be from the appropriate issuing government authority. Failure to provide the correct

document will delay your case and may result in rescheduling of your interview, or refusal of a visa.

For many countries, the U.S. Department of State has established country-specific criteria for ensuring

that applicants submit documents appropriate for visa processing. Please go to http://nvc.state.gov/ to

determine if the U.S. Department of State has issued any country-specific guidelines for the requested

document.

All documents not in English, or the official language of the country where the visa application will be

processed, must be accompanied by a certified translation. Your translation must include a statement

signed by the translator that states the following:

Translation is accurate

Translator is competent to translate

If the certificate is a certified copy of the original it must come from the issuing government authority

and it must contain annotation by the issuing government authority indicating that it is an extract from

the official records. If the applicant's marriage record is unobtainable because records have been

destroyed or the appropriate government authority will not issue one, please obtain a certified statement

from the appropriate government authority stating the reason your record is not available.

Called the NVC 3 times, one of them said the Marriage certificate did not look correct.

The second rep, did not tell me anything, so i asked to speak with a supervisor. She went on to explain me how the marriage from my country should look like and asked me to send another marriage certificate.

The third rep said my marriage certificate was missing and was actually very knowledgeable. She even suggested me to send my case to supervisor review.

Anyone ever had this problem?

I sent the original certificate's photocopy with a translation, perhaps they lost the photocopy and just looked a the translation?

Is there another person I should ask for? Supervisor review?

Does anyone have an immigration lawyer. I read in the wiki notes, that the ds-261 is automatically filled out and the Aos and the IV package becomes available soon after. Can someone shed light on this? As in does that imply spending less time at nvc?

Sorry I am late answering but saw wrong answers. There is no DS-261 if you have a lawyer since they are automatically assigned your agent. No S-261 means IV fee is invoiced at same time as AOS fee. Saved maybe a few days to a coupe of weeks. Some get DS-261 reviewed right away some later. So that's all having a lawyer at NVC does saves you at most a month of waiting.

Hi guys does anyone know how the NVC ships out your documents after your case is closed? Is there a way to track where your package is?

Your casefile is shipped out 3 ro 4 weeks after you are assigned an interview date. No there is no tracking number you will get. The best tracking is watch the ceac Visa tracker to change to "IN TRANSIT" once it arrives at embassy and scanned it it will change to "READY" and you will see going forward the Case Status date.

Thanks Kattrin, do you know who they courier with? My case is a little different as I have an approved expedited case. They have already sent my case and told me to deal with the embassy directly with obtaining my interview date. Just trying to figure out how it gets here and long it will take.

Watch your status. They use DHL. All you can do is stay in contact with embassy. What does your ceac status says. No need for tracking its all on the website.

3 N/As and changed on a Sunday. That's weird because Friday at 5 pm I called NVC and not reviewed yet. and I get the N/A on a Sunday.

Congratulations. I added you to the spreadsheet with CC 8/5. You called at 5pm. NVC is open until midnight and I know they don't work Saturdays and Sundays. Usually Friday nights they run a batch files that updates things. Andy way Congrats.

Okay so freaking out here as I've probably done too much reading so if anyone can clarify?

Ds-261 arrives by snail mail but only if you don't have lawyer?

Ds-260 can be submitted online?

AOS and IV package everyone sends via snail mail but I haven't read anywhere how it gets received?

How do you post both together if you are in different countries?

Am I missing something or got the wrong end of the stick ?

I might be late with this info to you but Sydney you ca submit documents electronically. Takes anywhere from a few days to 21 for case complete.

This is a question for anyone that can answer. I submitted my documents in July and my scan date is July 21st. I have been reading on this forum that you have to submit with the 1040 the w2s but I did not know that when I submitted my documents so I did not submit any w2s. If somone can please tell me their experience as to whether this will cause me to get a checklist and if yes what should I do next. Thanks in advance.

Yes this will get you a checklist I suggest now while waiting ordering your tax transcripts so you can have that. Those are preferred because they have all that NVC and the embassy needs and no need to attach W2 because its included in the transcripts.

It's always Tax forms and W2 or Tax Transcripts.
