I'm not sure if it's the right thread to ask about the green card. But my husband received an email saying my green card is being produced a couple days ago. Do I expect another month to receive my green card??

Hey E&E. I think its safer to get new pictures for medical and interview. Just in case they tell you to turn around and have a more recent photo taken. My husband gave pictures of him with a buzz cut but before interview shaved his his hair and went in as a skin head (ew! i know), and so the person looking at the ID photo wasn't satisfied with the contrast difference so he went and took a new photo at a nearby booth. But that's just our ridiculous experience lol.

The moment my husband received his interview date we already went and booked a flight because I was too excited.

Our timeline:

Interview: Aug 15

Received visa: Aug 19

Flightbooked: Aug 31

We will get new pictures.

Regarding the tickets the thing is that we will be buying 4 tickets since I live abroad with my husband and our 2 children. So I will wait till they issue the Visa in October. I think it would cost us too much to change the date on 4 tickets.

We are using a joint sponsor since I am in Bosnia. When my husband goes to the interview can our children and me go with him? If I by then do not have a job offer would that be a problem since we have a joint sponsor?

You should get new pics. this interview pic will be what will be on the green card Buying a ticket that's your choice I sure wouldn't. Visa machines break, people get put in AP at the easiest embassies. But if you have a ticket that doesn't cost too much to change than that's your choice. I am like immigration "don't make travel arrangements until visa is in hand".

Thanks dwheels76

Will get new pictures. And we will wait to buy the tickets when he gets approved, since the interview is on Oct 3 and we are hopping to be on the plane on Oct 22 or 29, we will see.

Does any one have a suggestion on cheap ticket sites. Form Bosnia to DC,US Turkish airlines are the cheapest right now!

I buy tickets from cheapoair every time. But their cancelling or changing policy can be expensive/reasonable at times.

To God Be The Glory. We came home last night. I am USC, so during the POE, I asked the person directing the lines if I could joint my with wife on the visitors section. She said yes. The process was very fast. The officer was very friendly. He asked how long we have been married? my wife was so tired. Anyway, we both answered the question. It only took us less then 10 minutes to go through immigration. They were a lot of people. The airport had a lot of processing lane open. I guess that was why everything was going fast. Once again, Thank you JV farm. Good Luck everyone.

Nope its a great place. We also got the "Card is in Production" update.

Expect the status to change in about 7 days or so thst "Card is Mailed" it will also give you your tracking numver. But expect card in about 2 weeks.

Woooo whoooo.

The card waiting is just a hit mess people no tracking no information until your card is produced.

How long have you been here? We paid 36 days before we got the message. We paid after he arrived.

What I have seen is people paying after arrival seem to receive their card way sooner than those who pay before. Hmmm just a theory.

You having a job offer should not matter because you have a joint sponsor. But because of your large family could make the CO feel better about you being able to take care of everyone. But the joint sponsor long as they are above the guidelines should be okay.

Checkout Skypicker.com or vayama.com great sites and you can see the whole month and the prices on what day.

Turkish has hellish layovers in Turkey. So beware.

Also check with your embassy on the policy to attend. I doubt the whole family can go in since this is just for your husband. Maybe just you.

I would email the embassy to ask can you and the kids attend since you all live there.

Congrats on the interviews scheduled, successful medicals and approvals! And yay for those who are now finally reunited with their loved ones :) I just read through the last 10+ pages (you guys write a lot in a few short days :) ), and there's no way I could have replied individually, I'm afraid,, as I recently noticed that you can only quote so many posts per post? Oh well! I am really happy for you all!

Now, I have a question for the more seasoned VJ members here and anyone who knows: When we sent of the AOS and IV paperwork we used the wiki here which still had the US-size passport pics mentioned, so we sent those as we still had some left. Now I just checked the P4 Interview Letter because I wanted to make a list for myself to see what to bring and what I might still need to get, and the following is written there:

You must bring the following items to the visa interview:

[...]

- Two passport photographs measuring 2 inches by 2 inches (5 cm by 5 cm) with a white background

[...]

The following table list s the documents requested by the NVC and whether or not you submitted them to the NVC. [...]

Refer to the Document Status Code Definitions on Page 3 to determine the meaning of the document status codes.

[...]

Photograph Y

So, the Y according to Page 3 means NVC sent this form or document to the US Embassy or Consulate, and the Photograph they talk about on the table means the passport picture, correct?

Do I or do I not need to bring the passport pics to the interview then? I'm a bit confused

But I'm glad to hear that our card is being produced!! I'm tired of carrying my passport to places as an ID!! Lol

Just pray that they don't mess up anything on the green card!

I had paid 2 days before my husband POE 6/26. Said PAID all this time. Than on July 9th I got email something was wrong with card and I needed to call in the payment. So on July 18th we called talked to a human gave same credit card number all was fine payment went through.

S its been 41 days since payment when we got the Card produced. The day after USCIS did all their revamping of the website. I see now you can't even access ELIS to see where you are. Only the Case Status and that doesn't appear until they produced your card.

And OMG please don't let anything be wrong with our cards. I am so done right now with immigration I need this 21 month break from them. Actually 18 months to go now until Removal of Conditions. Not that I am counting. LOL ;)

The pictures you bring with you to the interview will be the picture that appears on the Green Card. Because so many of us were stuck in the system for so long, we often cannot use the same photographs we did at the beginning of the process - they have to be taken within 6 months of the interview.

And, people, if you've changed your hair style, or hair color or beard/no beard, recently or whatever, be sure your pictures look like YOU on your interview date.

Thanks, Sukie. The pics should actually still be fine. At best 6 months 1 week old (I know, I know, that's more than 6 months LOL), but: I don't cut or color my hair, at the most, they're a bit longer now, which nobody notices because I wear them in a bun / a hairtie all the time, so the length would not show up on the pics anyway - and my genetic makeup is pretty neat, my facial features don't change much either.

(It's super frustrating when you have to take new pics because they're too old and then you have the new ones in hand and every thing looks the same with the exception of the shirt and makeup worn)
