My fiance will be arriving in the US in two weeks on a tourist visa. This will be his first time visiting the US. The purpose of his visit is to to complete a medical internship at the hospital in my town and he will be here for four weeks. He will be staying with me for three weeks while he is doing the internship, then with his sponsors (the individuals who provide his scholarship and pay for his med school) for a week. He is currently a medical student in Haiti. We are trying to prepare for what types of questions he may be asked at the POE. We have not yet applied for K! visa, but will be working on this when he visits. He will have a letter from the hospital with his itinerary, a letter from his medical school, a letter from his sponsors stating what he will be doing with them on his visit, a return plane ticket to his home country, and a letter from me stating that I will be sponsoring him during his time here. What type of questions might he be asked? Could they deny him entry if he is asked what our relationship is? Thank you!

No one can predict if a CBP officer will deny entry or not. However, with the evidence you have, it shows very strong ties to his home country, and that's what they want to see. Having a USC fiancee should not deny him entry, if that's your concern. Even after filing the K1 visa, entry is still allowed (as long as the CBP officer is convinced you will return home). I think you are going to be fine!

Typical questions are...how long do you plan to stay? Where will you be staying? The purpose of the trip.

A letter from you saying you are paying for everything for his trip is a negative - basically saying he cannot afford to fund the trip himself which is a reason for him to stay in the US.

On one of my many B2 visits I was asked how much money I had with me for my trip. I answered "nothing, just 3 credit cards". The CBP guy smiled and said "good answer" and stamped me through.

He has already done the hard part by getting the visa so he should be fine. But off course there is always the possibility of being denied entry, only US citizens have the right to enter.

No one can tell you what questions he will be asked. But what we can say is that any question he is asked must be answered truthfully.

I agree with the previous poster regarding finances. I am eligible for the VWP and on my three most recent trips have been asked how much money I am carrying with me (never used to be asked that). I think it's a very clever question. People might be tempted to give a hugely inflated figure so that it looks like they can comfortably afford the proposed trip. However, when I have answered "$20 cash, my debit card and my credit card" they have always smiled and said "good" and stamped my passport. The fact that I have debit and credit cards with me indicates that I have not liquidated all my accounts and assets and brought the cash with me (which could be an indication that I am planning to stay with my husband). It shows the accounts are active and have not been closed.

If you write a statement that you are paying for everything they will wonder what he has to go back to. Clearly not a well-paid job.
