When we went through the K1 visa last year, I (US citizen) received a letter in the mail at my home in America. My fiancé never got any communication. It said my fiancé could go to the embassy on Wednesday to pick up the packets. You will need to make scan the letter and send it to your fiancé. I think it took a month or two to get the letter. I don't believe the embassy uses email for K1 visas, only spouse visas.

Thank you both so Much for the reply :) i will waite a little bit and see so, if it takes that long and am guessin the interview will be like 2 month after that am afraid our petition will expire by then so then what do we do? The expiring date is in September

dont mind the expiration date..and also i dont say this to be mean or rude but i would really advice reading the whole Ghana forum. Alot of questions you may be having are answered through the posts and you also get to learn alot about the whole process concerning k-1 in Ghana. It helped us alot.

i will explain what is suppose to happen and also your options on what you could do. After your packet is mailed to the accra embassy they should be sending you the petitioner a call in letter for your fiance. this letter allows for him to go to the embassy on a wednesday and pick up packet 3&4. he will drop the letter off at 7 am and come back at 2 pm and pick up his packet. packet three tells you all the requirements you will need before the interview date such as the medical and the police report and packet 4 is a letter telling you your interview date. all that is required will need to be done before the interview.

If you wait and a month goes by without getting the call-in letter. you will then need to email the embassy. provide all the case numbers especially the accXXXXXXXXX one and ask for an electronic version of the call in letter. once they reply, you can send it to your fiance and he can print it and present it on a wednesday. if you send emails and they dont respond. as a last resort you can print a screenshot of the ready page and your fiance can take that to the embassy on a wednesday and with being very adamant and begging he might get let in and he can pick up the packet then. if he tries that and is not let in, there have been instances where people try again with the ready screenshot and they get in.

Ghana embassy is very backlogged. most k1 by the interview date are already expired. the embassy always extends it. ( you will hear of denials where they mention "by the way your petition has expired" but that is just a gimic they say, they are already denying for something else, they just say that)

our petition was approved in January and our expiration date was in May. my fiance got approved in July after having an interview date in April, then rescheduled to June, and given a follow up date in July. so no worries because there is nothing you can do about that date, its in there hands. Good luck
